twobells Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Having shelled out for the TM A10 Hotas I'm now ready to invest in a SSD drive which drive do subscribers rate? I am looking to balance performance with cost so considered the OCZ 180GB Vertex 2. Succellus Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 The bigger the better, bigger SSD, non MLC, SLC for the win. The bigger they are the more HUD they ll have, so the faster they will be to access info. MTFDarkEagle Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 True, the bigger they are the faster they are. As a particular one I would suggest a VERTEX 2 by OCZ, like JaseGill already stated. My father has a 120gb one, and it's very fast and reliable. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
RedX Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Considering my budget constraints I purchased the 80GB Intel X-25M about a year ago. It has been big enough this far to contain all my installed programs, although 160GB would have been nicer, of course. Windows is installed so that "documents and settings" and any other user data is on another, traditional hard drive. Loading times are excellent with the SSD compared to traditional hard drive. Pilotasso Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Any sandforce based SDD will be fine. There are other propositions in both higher and lower ends, but they are not advisable. .
Slayer Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I have a couple of Corsair P128 SSD's in raid for about a year. Very fast and reliable so far. Good price point and performance. Pilotasso Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Read and Write performance is little low (specially write). Sandforce drives are the safest bet as they can go to 285Mb/s Read, and 275Mb/s write. Some Other devices like the C300 can do better but they are also more expensive, or have particular system requirements (like the revodrive) that not all motherboards can provide. .
