I've read the activation stuff a thousand times, but since I don't use that information constantly I forget it.

I'm going to be installing windows 7 soon and I'm wanting to know what I'm supposed to do with A-10C's software key. Do I need to deactivate this thing first? And I assume I'll need to use the same procedure with BlackShark?

Yeah that sounds familiar. I use the protect.exe thing in the bin folder right?

Well in this thread here according to 159th Viper activations are renewed and you never run out?

That would be wonderful of ED to do that but I don't think that is how it works:music_whistling:

Why would I purposely deceive the OP and all others who stumble onto that particular thread?

Ok, sorry but I am still a little unclear on how to deactivate. Ive tried in the past and after installing activations still got used up. I just bought a new motherboard, i7 750cpu, 8GB memory and 2 GTX470 video cards. Tommorrow I will be building it all my OS and software will be moved to this new configuration. So how exactly how do you deactivate your current installation.

Viper I tried to do as you said. I was successful with deactivating BS but with A-10C somehow it didnt work and now I get the following error:

Unable to run the application due to integrity fault of the Activation Key. Re-enter a valid Activation Key or re-activate the application.

If the error recurs, press "Error report" and send the report to product technical support.

Now I can neither run the sim, activate or deactivate.

I just deactivated mine with out any problems.

However I have heard of this problem before. Delete the following registry entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\Warthog\Keys

This will cycle the system and should let you proceed.

Thanks Chris and Viper. All working now. My upgrade was surprisingly painless and resulted in performance improvement over and above my expectations. I did not have reinstall windows or any other application. Prior to upgrading I created a quick flight to benchmark my old and new system. I saved the track and replayed several times and watched the FPS counter. Old system despite OC QX9770 Extreme chip achieved about 40fps max and dropped as low as 14fps at low altitude. New system SLI disabled max 60fps and dropping as low as 24fps at low altitude. With SLI enabled (alternate frame 2), high altitude was pegged at 60fps the majority of the time but still dropped to 24fps at low altitude.

Conclusion: i7 rocks. Definitely worth the upgrade. As far as sli goes, still undecided if really gives any worthwile performance improvement.

159th Viper, Sorry,:noexpression: it was not my purpose to put your integrity or knowledge in question, that would be way out of my pay grade anyway:doh: My bad, I am glad that is how it will work. In this day and age of anti piracy gone crazy I am shocked that a publisher would take care of the people that actually purchase the sim. Usually us paying customers pay in frustration also due to the extremes company's go to in order to protect their product.

Once again it is refreshing to have a group like ED who not only strive for realism and programming excellence but have great forward thinking in customer service also.
