Insanatrix Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 It's DX9, they didn't feel they had time to implement DX11 features as per a post by wags.
MTFDarkEagle Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 directx is backwards compatible, so if you would have an dx10(or 11 for that matter), you could still run it on xp. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
KillaALF Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 directx is backwards compatible, so if you would have an dx10(or 11 for that matter), you could still run it on xp. Only if a game has a DX9 mode, it it is DX10/11 only it won't run on XP.
sobek Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 directx is backwards compatible, so if you would have an dx10(or 11 for that matter), you could still run it on xp. This is not true. With DX10, backwards compatibility was left out on purpose. A sole DX10 install can not run a game that reqires DX9. If, for a change, we would see a game that was entirely done for DX10 or 11, it would, to my best knowledge, not be compatible with winxp. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! MTFDarkEagle Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Ah yes, obviously, I got it the other way around :P Disregard my post above ;) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
con3para Posted December 24, 2010 Author Posted December 24, 2010 thanks all ill be putting on to both sytsems ..xp-32..and win7-64 HAF TOWER / MSI z77 G43 /-i5-3570k.@ 3.4mhz / GTX 780 / Patriot 8GB. DDR3 / TM-HOTAS-warthog 00228
sobek Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 thanks all ill be putting on to both sytsems ..xp-32..and win7-64 Don't bother with xp, it will most likely run faster on win7. Additionally, you get to use the 64bit exe (ther merit of 64 bit depends on how much ram you have, though) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
mavyalex Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 What is the performance gain in percentage from running DCS: A-10 C from Windows XP 32-bit to Window 7 Ultimate 32-bit version approximately? + 20%? "Always check your 6 o'clock if you want to live!"
sobek Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 What is the performance gain in percentage from running DCS: A-10 C from Windows XP 32-bit to Window 7 Ultimate 32-bit version approximately? + 20%? It seems to vary, but it is noticeable. If you are running on win7 anyway, id recommend installing it there. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
