Ragtag Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) Even if the developer said they aimed for late february doesn't mean it's going to happen. Though i do think they are building up a release candidate instead of beta 6, taking the big delay and the mentioned time frame in the article into consideration. Allthough we might not even get a new beta at this point if late february is in fact the target. There are still no release date set and no official information after the beta 6 update by Wags. One thing i've learned from Ed is that nothing is official untill the release date is announced. ED takes the time they need and has always done that. We just have to be patient and wait :) Edited February 17, 2011 by Ragtag [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I7 3930K. 16Gb Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz. Asus P9X79 Deluxe. Asus GTX680 2Gb. CPT-Sir Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I think that any software developer should say periodically what's going on and what's not going on. I think that this is for respect in both customers and stakeholders. In my country if you start a project, then you publish a beta, then you receive feedback and disappear without saying anything is a complete NO GO. Two weeks of silence are not the best way to make affairs
EtherealN Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 CPT-Sir, has it occured to you that maybe - just maybe - people are busy with doing weird things like developing the game? :P You are being overly dramatic. ED has learned to only say things when it is reasonably certain of making it happen. Be patient, chill a bit, and fly your beta code. Time spent lamenting is time you could have spent practicing weapons delivery. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Ragtag Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Well, it's a double edged sword. If they say something or "promise" something and it's not delivered due to unforseen problems, people go nuts. If they don't say anything people go nuts. BrumTx Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I agree with Ragtag, but it would be nice to get a weekly update, no promises made ... just an update of the previous weeks trials and tribulations Remember the 346 Fire Fighters, Medics & Police who died on 9-11....... Selective memory is a wonderful thing, especially when certain posts simply disappear into the ether never to be seen again, unless I have a copy of the original post copied and pasted into word documents and saved .... just in case :) Am I an abusive idiot ? Geskes Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Apparently the only reasonable thing to do is say nothing untill you have something. The statements from Wags have always come with an IF in front but that is quickly forgotten. I'd rather know nothing and be suddenly surprised by a release instead of being anticipating something which is not coming. StrongHarm Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 ED seems to be a lot more active in the community than 99% of the developers out there. Don't bite the hand that feeds. 1 It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

Two weeks of silence are not the best way to make affairs I strongly disagree with you, they have no obligation to tell us what's happening. We are free to buy their products, (or not). We must accept the fact that they are not willing to share everything with us. There are (a few) competitors out there, so they need to take care at what they are saying and what they are publicly releasing. We should be gratful toward them to let us try some betas. BTW, they never said that we could have the release candidate. Be patient! Guest Cayenne Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Updates Whats all this nonsense of "Beta 6"? Isn't THIS coming "SOON" this is the beta 6 project, right? Wags TFC/ED Producer 10-06-2010, 12:57 PM A-10C Beta FAQ Q: Will I have to re-download the entire package every time the Beta is updated? A: The plan is to provide an auto-updater that will update your Beta's every two weeks. This is the "line" that made Me decide to pre-finance development.
StrongHarm Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 The updated would give updates incrementally instead of in one large build. They're obviously hard at work putting a full update package together instead of working on the updater. No wonder Wags is reluctant to provide periodic updates. Some of the people on this board are like retarded piranha. I wouldnt want to get swarmed with ignorance and lack of appreciation either. :). Take your feeding frenzy elsewhere, I'll sit here and wait patiently for a nice fillet. LukeSky Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) This is the "line" that made Me decide to pre-finance development. Quote from 159th Viper 'Plans are for an Auto-Updater, akin to a 'patch' if you will. Again, obviously subject to change So, you should had read a bit more before buying. If you're dissatisfied you should not pre-purchase softwares anymore. Just the flight manual worth the money. So your money is not lost, plus you'll still have the final product. + Beta 4 is fully playable, with a few bugs, but that doesn't prevent anyone to play the missions. This thread is only about hope to have some news of the next beta, but, if they are not willing to release any info, they have fully the right not to. So while you are waiting, practice http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patience "Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay " Edited February 17, 2011 by LukeSky [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Windows 7 64bit, Core I7 950, Nvidia GTX 260, 6 gig RAM, TIR 5, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, Logitech attack3 :(
