Funkyjazz Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Hi, Last week somebody hacked my system. I dont know how he did it but he just took over my mouse... I tried everything but there was only 1 remedy: fresh install of windows 7. So i did. The last few days i have been buzy setting up my system, reinstalling all Steam games and other games which took me about 2 a 3 days. FS9 with all add ons took me over a day... I ordered LO FM 2.0 which will arrive tomorrow by mail (i hope so). So this evening i installed Lock on and right after that Lock On FC. While i was into a mood for flying i started up LO FC....and then it happend. After the starforce confirmation screen, my PC restarted and went directly into the file recovery mode. The nasty thing is, its in a loop! It cant recover my files and it wont startup anymore. Now i remember there was a problem with Starforce and...windows 7(?) i cant recall it anymore. I know that i DL a file from the Starforce site with was a patch for this problem. Im not happy because i have to reinstall windows 7 again....!!!! with all steam apps, Fs9...makes me very tired. So...what ever DCS or ED brings in the future make SURE(!!!) you have a qualified anti piracy system that will work in every(!!) circumstance. I hate this kind of SH*T!! golfsierra2 Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) 1. If you have finished your setup, make a recovery DVD with an image that you can import in the future - saves hours of work ;-) 2. Keep you Antivir software updated and don't DL and install crap software from the internet from sites that you don't know / can't trust. Your system was hacked for a reason.... 3. Set a restore point once you installed new software. If the installation fails, you can reverse it easily. Edited January 2, 2011 by golfsierra2 kind regards, Raven.... But i can't restore my backup for reason X... 2) I have always used ANTIVIR free and updated it daily. I also had Ad aware free version. As firewall i use comodo. My system is well protected. 3) I had restore points. As said earlier, i tried everything but none helped me. The only reason i can think of is the port forwarding of my router to enjoy MP through steam. combatace Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 You are Running W7 so you need to update starforce drivers they are available on lockonfiles. Im just tired and i need to go to bed. But first i want this to be installed the right way so i can install FC2.0 tomorrow as soon as it arrives... I have been able to start my system again (safe modus ect ect). I have de-installed Lock on and FC. I reinstalled Lock on. Restarted my system, started it up and that was ok. Next i DL a startforce update from the starforce site. I installed FC, patched it to 1.12B and restarted my system. After the restart i startup FC. At the protection screen i choose "no" for the reboot and i executed the startforce update. After it finished it said the driver was updated. I started up FC and this time i choose "yes"for the reboot. After the reboot a pop up came from windows with the message that the current starforce driver is not compatible with this OS = windows 7 64 bit. Im going crazy here!!!! The last time (half a year ago) i remember installing Lock on and FC without any problems...what do i miss? **UPDATE** The windows baloon doesn't show up anymore. Instead i receive the starforce screen asking for a reboot, which i do everytime without any succes. I have removed the starforce driver and i reinstalled the driver without result... Well...im going to bed. Tomorrow i receive Fc2.0 and i do hope that wont give me these problems. "Bleh"...just wanted to fly another mission this eve. Im just angry because i have a legal copy bought at Simware...and now it doenst work. 'Talk to you guys tomorrow. sorry for my tone, please dont take it personally. EtherealN Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Did I understand you right in that you have ordered FC2 and intend to install it? If so, you do not need FC1.12. Simple and regular vanilla LOMAC is enough. As for the rest of your rant - ED already did something about it. You might notice how the system used in FC2, DCS:BS and DCS:A-10C has no driver. Install Lockon and Fc1.12 but do not start without updating star force drivers. Also Install lockon and install FC2 when it comes and don't worry about SF as there are no Sf drivers in FC2 and your lockon SF drivers don't need to be run untill you try to run the old games. So be patient and let FC2 arrive. To support my models please donate to paypal ID: hp.2084@gmail.com https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Artists/hero2084?referral=hero2084
Funkyjazz Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Hi, Again i wiped my HD and did a full fresh install of windows 7 64 bit home edition. I installed all lastest drivers incl DIRECTX 9 Aug and updated Windows 7 completely via de update site. I logged in as Administrator and did as followed: 1) I installed Lock on 1.0 2) I started up Lock On 1.0 = no problems 3) I installed FC 1.0 4) I installed the FC 1.12B patch 5) I started FC 1.12B and answered NO for the reboot. 6) I installed the latest starforce driver that i downloaded from their site. 7) After the starforce upgrade starforce asks me to reboot and i did 8) I started up FC 1.12B and the old starforce screen appear asking me for a reboot... 9) i tried to reinstall the new starforce driver which says that the lastest version allready is installed... 10) I cant startup FC while i have two legal bought DVD's from Simware. The thing that keeps me wondering is: i was able to install it half a year ago. why doesn't it work anymore? Because of a new windows update? I dont know... Im comming back onto this (regardless of my upcomming FC2.0) because there will be users with windows 7 64 bit and only playing FC 1.12B. If they have to reinstall their system i dont hope they will encounter the same problems as i do now. Now remove Sf drivers via SF removal tool also available on Lockonfiles install new drivers and try to run the game. Thorvald Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Woah, ED uses Starforce? Good god I hoped that software had died a miserable death ages ago (same issues here, nasty nasty software caused all kinds of headaches in the past). I hope to god A10 doesn't get that crap but if it does, I'll be sure to read up on the drivers etc as I know it can be amazingly fussy. I also have LOMAC and FC1 sitting on the shelf but never installed, glad I found this thread so I can ensure I don't mess it up as well. Funkyjazz Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) Well, I received FC 2.0 at 13:00 hours via mail. So i was happy cause i could leave behind the Fc1.0 starforce problems. I logged in with my user account. I installed Fc 2.0 with administrator rights. After the installation i installed the 1.2.1 patch. After that i wanted to startup FC 2.0. But...no desktop icon... So i looked in the installation folder and i couldnt find anything. I wasnt able to startup Fc 2.0. So i deinstalled Fc 2.0, logged in as admin and installed it again. this time i was able to start the game. But...i dont want to game when logged on as admin. So i went back to my user account and again i wasnt able to startup FC 2.0. All games i own are installed via my users account via admin rights and they all work even UBI's DRM games like Assassins Creed II. Do i really have to be logged in as admin to play FC 2.0? By the way, i allready lost two activations! I didnt make any changes to my Pc and i havent played the game decently. This is not good...not good at all! Wolf Rider Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 When you "wipe the HD" do you use Caldera/ disc scrubber, or similar (which should be available from your HD manufacturer) to "write zeros to all sectors" on the HD. Basically this renders the HD to a "new" condition. Did you install the sim "for all users"? Too many reinstalls over a HD can, in some instances, cause all sorts of problems City Hall is easier to fight, than a boys' club - an observation :P "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us." - Jefferson "Give a group of potheads a bunch of weed and nothing to smoke out of, and they'll quickly turn into engineers... its simply amazing." Funkyjazz Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Well...finaly i have got it! First i truly want to appologize for my utterly stupidity! Im 20 years working with my PC's and this...men...how could i ever not see it! It must be my age... So far i installed Fc 2.0 with my user account and admin rights. However FC 2.0 does not make a desktop icon even if i says so. Nevermind... So i went into the explorer to the Bin\X86\Stable folder. Overhere i saw two exe'es: "launcher" and "simulator". When i clicked on the launcher i got the message: " cannot open.\Blackshark\Blackshark.lua : No such file or directory". So i didnt understand sh*t of it. After hours of trying...i opened my start menu >> All programs, scrolled to the Eagle dynamics, clicked it open, selected the shortcut and it starts!! So from there i made a shortcut to my desktop and it works....ppffff. Again, my excuses if i ranted...:( Thanks for all the help.
