Conure Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi all, Just curious about the Nevada terrain - What's it actually for? How big is it etc...Is it just for training or will there be missions based on it? I pretty much know nothing about it and missed the early betas that included it! Thanks Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
104th_Crunch Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi and welcome to the ED forums. Have a search of the forums and you'll find lots of info. It was included as a training grounds (smaller area) in the earlier betas but removed in the latest beta due to other priorities at the moment. The plan is to have it back perhaps after release.
Conure Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Thanks - I will check it out. Wish there was some some terrain in a place like Afghanistan..That'd be very cool, particularly because of the extra immersion..Still, I guess modelling that would take a long time and we'd be waiting much longer! Mustang Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Apparently, there is a section of the map in DCS A-10C that looks alot like parts of Afghanistan, i think it was JimMack who mentioned it in another thread that soviet troops used to train there in the 80's in practice in their deployment to Afghanistan. Oh and btw, i know how you feel about the Nevada terrain, i too entered the beta at a late stage and never got the chance to see it first hand :(
SilentEagle Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 One is being worked on: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=45658
Conure Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Very cool! :-) Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
sobek Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Is it just for training or will there be missions based on it? Once it's done, you can do anything you want with it. So any mission you can think of, you just need to build it. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Conure Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 LOL :megalol: That movie is still No.1 for me:P I think the highlight is when they take crop dusters and put them into FA-18s.. "This is like nothing you've flown before"... Those crop dusters were formation flying with full avionic mastery in minutes! ...Impressive..
