So after playing a lot in the Nevada map, the question occurred to me (as I'm sure it has to others), will DCS make an Iraq/Afghanistan map in the future? Completely random thought, just curious to see what might be on the minds of the developers once the product is finalized and they have more time to have fun with map making. I'm completely stoked about the ability users will have to create maps.

Hahahah...nice joke...they will not have more time to make maps. There are a lot of other things to do, as there is to become the Hog compatible with the Shark. If this is done so the next Module (I guess the Apache) is the thing in touch. But generally it would be an interesting thing to fly over an Afghanistan Area..

But there was in 1991... I know the C was not in existance at that point. Reading W. L. Smallwoods Book flying the A-10 in the Gulf War. It would be great to have scenarios based on some of the actual missions that were flown at that time and recounted in the book.

Even though DCS models the C and in 91 it was the A that was flying the combat. Thoughts?

It's actually looking REALLY nice. I can't wait to do some CAS in Afghanistan mountains! What makes it even better is the quality of work and attention to realism.

I hope the airbases are custom too.

Me too. I'm a huge fan of desert terrains. If that Afghanistan map is not ready until A-10C release, I'll put my photoshop skills into good use and alter the stock textures to create a desert landscape over Caucasus :P

P.S. Although Afghanistan is in the middle east and is considered a desert terrain.. that doesn't mean is the same everywhere in Afghanistan. Attention to detail should be a given from the start in making a desert terrain not to "overcook" and get the colors wrong (too reddish or too yellow). Northern Afghanistan is mountainous and has very high vegetation with forests (some areas might even resemble with some of the mountains in DCS). Also, the south parts (Kandahar & Helmand) in spite being very "desert" like terrains, they also have "green" zones, around rivers and lakes with high vegetation and populace.

I haven't been there personally but I live in a country very close to Middle East with similar environment.

Agreed Innerloop. I remember trying to play the Afghanistan theater in Falcon 4. It just looked like a sea of orange...made it quite hard to visually get an idea of how high you were too, along with the fact it just looked horrible haha!

Hmmm....a desert Caucasus region? That'd be a great way to tide us over!
