Im having problems with taking off after landing in a high altitude farp. Im playing Dragons Convoyhunting mission. After landing at the farp, I refuel and rearm. When its time for take off I get nowhere. The KA 50 will not lift off the ground. What an I missing to get this right.

You probably shouldn't refuel fully, or take only what ammo you need. In high places, everything counts.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Also you can try to maximize on transitional lift, don't take off vertical into a hover. Even on a farp you can get some forward speed before lift off, every bit counts. After lift off a balance between a nice pitch forward and collective to increase your forward speed and lift. Into the wind is good too. ;)

If you are taking off from a high altitude FARP chances are you had the engine anti-icing on when you landed. Turning it off during the initial take off will give you a little more power and won't present much risk of icing for that short a time. Just remember to turn it back on again. I try to associate it with putting the gear up so I remember to check it right after take off. In BS, if you see snow on the ground at your altitude then you are in icing conditions.

When you do that you may end up exactly like those poor bastards ;)

It will also result in long term FOD to the engine because the dust separation is coupled with the anti ice. Sure, no problem in the sim because you don't use one airframe long enough for the ramifications to really come into play, but if you want to keep it as realistic as possible, this is a big deal.

Jet pack. Want one for my cat. I will reduce my fuel load not 100% and I had the anti icing on. I will give it a try.
