DoveHawk38 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Hello. I am new here :) I have years of on-line experience in other combat flight sims, but I am completely new to Lock On, or to any modern combat flight sims for that matter. In other words, I never launched a missile before. I recently bought LOMAC+FC2 Platinum, and am trying to teach myself how to shoot down enemies. I have no difficulties in killing AI's using the cannon of F15C, but I just can't launch any missiles. I am trying to follow the instructions in p-94 ~ 95 of the manual. For example, (1) I press the [6] key to choose Uncage Mode. (I am in the "Game" mode.) (2) I see two concentric circles on my HUD, and "9M 2" on the lower left corner, indicating two AIM-9M Side Winders are available. I also see AIM-9M Seeker is cooling, i.e. "COOL", on MPCD on the lower left hand side of my cockpit. (3) I line up my F15C, and hear the high-pitched lock tone. I see two red lights turn on along the canopy flame, and I hear "shoot." (4) I press a key mapped for "Weapon Release" on my joystick. (5) Nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? I must be missing something..... Thank you for your help in advance.

Sel94 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Yes, to shoot a missile you must hold down the release button for ~2 seconds. Welcome to FC2, hope you enjoy the sim :)
DoveHawk38 Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 Thank you very much for your help. Much appreciated. I knew I was overlooking something lol I am really enjoying this cool game.
Boberro Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 You should read manual... what it is there for? :) Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
TAIPAN_ Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Hi Dovehawk, The manual is ok, but much better are the FlankerTraining videos. Once you finish the in-game training vids, head over to FlankerTraining's air to air page: http://flankertraining.com/ironhand/a2a.htm I'm just moving into trying the Fighters, after years flying the ground attack in the Ka-50 and Su-25t. It's quite fun once you get the hang of it and the flight models aren't so bad even if they aren't AFM like the Su-25t. Better than FSX anyway :) Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods

dunadan Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Yes, the F-15 comes with child proof switches, so that the youngster doesn't hurt himself. :P OK THAT was funny . . . especially since I used to be in an F-15 unit and have known a few F-15 drivers and their average maturity level. . .
