BKLronin Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I often use the Autopilot while I´m looking at the MFDs but pretty often it on´t engage no matter if I use the Knob in Cockpit or the one on the TM Warthog. Are there any requirements to be met like in DCS BS when engaging autohover? Autopilotchannels are all engaged. I don´t have much time for the manual and was unable to find a suitable thread about that topic. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sobek Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Are there any requirements to be met like in DCS BS when engaging autohover? There are certain attitude requirements for the autopilot to engage. Somewhere in the range of +- 5° pitch. Don't know about roll. For ALT/HDG mode that is. Dunno about the others. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
159th_Viper Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 You are in all probability exceeding the limits whereby the AP can be engaged, depending on the AP mode. However just keep in mind that in the absence of a track the aforesaid is just an educated guess. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Damage Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) Make sure the EAC switch is set to ARM and Radar Altimeter switch is set to NORM. These are located on the Autopilot panel. Unless the throttle is advanced to > 25% the view of these switches will be obstructed. The ALT/HDG should hold a level path on your current heading if you are already in level flight with the aircraft properly trimmed. Hope this helps. If you find that this is happening after a cold ramp start. Be sure to wait until the INS NAV RDY is blinking at T = 4.0 (in the RMFD CDU screen) before setting the EAC switch. majapahit Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) your ARM must be on ARM only works on a proper INS Align ( at startup T=4.0 0.8 > blinking INS ALIGN RDY) and you have to engage within specified requirements about 5 degrees up/dwn pitch for HDG and ALT HLD within (I think) 15 degrees roll for HDG and Pitch HLD ALT HOLD, can have a lot of roll I use ALT HLD with a lot of roll to steer the A10 away from the scene .. and then enjoy a relaxed missile view LCtrl-F6 (weapons to target) on a modified button Edited January 18, 2011 by majapahit 1 | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
BKLronin Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 Thank you all. As I can´t upload anything to EDF at the moment ( correctfilesize and extension) I was unable to serve you with a track. During the recording I obtained that I´m within the 5° vertical and a almost horizontal lvl of the plane. It anyway looked like it had sthg to do with the EAC switch and the sync to TM Warthog. After switching it a few times it worked with sync Controller to sim in options menu. I will observe it furthermore to clarify that but I guess it was a Pilot error. Cheers! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
