cichlidfan Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Cool - let us know how it goes - with a screenshot if you can :D Screenshot, hell. If it works I want the part number/source for the switch. :) I am used to it, but there is certainly room for improvement. I always wondered about gluing the top of an Xbox controller stick onto it but never tried. RedX Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I made a quick improvement by using a drop of super glue and an unused orange "nipple" from a Thinkpad laptop, where there is a very small ministick in the middle of the keyboard to emulate a mouse. The Thinkpad came with a couple of different replacement caps on the ministick and one of them is now glued on my warthog ministick. Improved the feeling quite a lot. I've been wondering whether it would be possible to replace the throttle's ministick with that of an old Thinkpad, since they have pressure sensor. I forgot all about those. I maintained a pile of those things, as a sysadmin, many moons ago. hansangb Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I was thinking that myself. I have the spare nubs so I can probably put them to good use. It's one of the reasons why I only by a thinkad. DD_Crash Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Me too :) I did try double sided stick pads but they only lasted a week. Superglue fixed that.
Berndt Mangler Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Don't know about target- but there is a slew control right on the TGP display in game. Just hit the value you want on the UFC (typically 2, 3, or 4) and then the slew OSB. I use 8 in the slew with no changes else ware. This works most perfect for me. In all the Slewing fiasco's I've been through as a result of its fussiness, I found this to be the best solution, and I really was looking for something else to remember to push during start-up. The cap on the nub is a great idea, I believe I'll do something similar.. Great Ideas. This forum reeks with possible solutions... chaos Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I've been wondering whether it would be possible to replace the throttle's ministick with that of an old Thinkpad, since they have pressure sensor. I've been trying to find the part number and/or OEM for this piece of kit. Apparently they're not sold seperately as a replacement part. You'd have to purchase a complete (Lenovo) keyboard and remove the trackpoint hardware from it. That's the easy part... How are you going to make it work on the throttle? I'm assuming it needs drivers... ? Tackpoint does seem like an ideal solution but probably nigh impossible to implement on the throttle. I'm not an engineer. Maybe someone with the required knowledge is willing to share some thoughts on this...? "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."
snafup Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Here's a 3 cent solution for slipping fingers. Any hardware store sells these sticky sided sandpaper disk for those rotary tools. IE: Dremel . Cut out a little circle, peel off the back, and stick to slew. I always find it and finger never slips. I was in the process of trying to retrofit an old 4 way switch from an older stick, by grinding the bottom curved and gluing it on, when i remembered i had a load of these in my work bench. Much easier.(I've also found with 23 firmware slew is better,Don't know if that is actually the case or not , or just my mind). 1
