mavyalex Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 I am going to Kansas City in mid-April. Are there any A-10's there? Maybe if I check the military bases in Kansas? "Always check your 6 o'clock if you want to live!"

leafer Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Get ready to be sorely disappointed because th e exterior of the real things are severely weathered and neglected. All of the military jets I've seen up close were riddled with chipped paint and hasty patch job aroud seams. It was as if the crew couldn't careless, probably rightly so, about the exterior and just paint whatever coat of pain on when need be. And if you've never been to an airshow then I'll tell you I've found most "fighter" pilots to be unpleasant. A few are down right racists. Perhaps European fighter pilots are more professional and not a bunch of bigots as the Americans? And when you go to an airshow don't forget to visit pilots that fly huey and whatnot because they deserve your attention as well and they are much nicer too. If you want to see beautiful war planes go to a show with real WWII Warbirds. Years of love, sweat and bruise knuckels have gone into making them airwothy. Joe Kurr Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Closest would be Spangdahlem as acerus77 pointed out, and you could try to visit some airshows in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands or the UK. I think visiting the Koksijde airshow in Belgium might be a good bet, otherwise go to RIAT (RAF Fairford) or Leeuwarden (Dutch Air Force Days). acerus77 Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Jep, Luchtmachtdagen Air Show 2011 in Leeuwarden is definatley on my List for this Year... :pilotfly: Win7 64bit Ultimate / MSI MPOWER Z97 / i7 4790K@4,4GHz / Thermalright Silver Arrow IB-E / EVGA GTX980 Superclocked ACX 2.0 / 16 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 / Creative SB X-Fi / Sandisk Extreme Pro 480GB SSD / 1TB WD Black Caviar HD / Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 1050W / Be Quiet Base 800 / TM Warthog HOTAS / TrackIR 5
Joe Kurr Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Another one that might be of interest is the TDPU Spottersday at Kleine Brogel Airbase in Belgium. Not sure if any Hogs show up there (they have in the past) but definately worth visiting! A date for the spottersday is not set at the moment, but the exercise runs from 14 until 23 September.
