Smoketrail mod for DCS Warthog

Recommended Posts

Title says it all :)

This little mod (originally used in DCS Black Shark and FC2.0) alters the definition of the smoketrails and effects in DCS Warthog.

Simply extract the 3 tga files from the RAR file into your TempTextures folder (located in your \DCS A-10C\Bazar\TempTextures directory) to apply it.

how is it on the FPS ?

Do you think that getting 9 women pregnant will get you a baby in 1 month?

I posted this in a different thread but it's relevant here as well :)

Thanks a lot for this MOD.

I tried it in FC2 and it's very nice.

But it still doesn't change important (for me) effects.

- White smoke generated by missiles is still thin and transparent (I know AIM120 are smokeless, but Mavericks and AIM9s should generate a nice ammount of smoke)

- Missile smoke trails disappear far too quickly to my taste (need to stay visible much longer)

- Smoke trails have a predetermined "length" - Would be nice to look back and see where exactly the missles was fired from (similar to the contrails in the game when you fly very high)

Any chance that a skilled modder or ED will improve in these areas?

Thanks again!

That's something that has bugged me since the first Lock-On. When even shoulder launched missles are fired (ok, most, not all) they leave a smoke trail that can be tracked back to the source even after a minute or so... but in the sim they disappear rather quickly.

Is it possible to get a thicker somewhat lasting smoke on the Mavericks while they are burning gas? Looking at videos with the MAVs, the smoke is definitely thicker and sticks around for a couple more seconds...
