Yes works in first mission first campaign once I set the IDs.

Yes I did the exact same thing, just a moment before contact with JTAC, it works everytime now. Are you sure you hadnt forgotten to switch on the SADL?

Yes, JTRS switch ON. In the single missions, I don't have problem with JTAC, red triangle appears after wilco confirmation, but in these single missions the A10 starts in flight. In campaign, I do a rampstart... perhaps I forgot something, but the switch JTRS is on, and I see the xxx where are friendly units. This afternoon I will try a cheat rampstart with Lwin+home

Thanks

@sticky: one more thing. Sometimes the triangle is further away than you anticipate. Are you sure the tad is zoomed out far enough to see the triangle? I've missed a couple of targets because of this :p

Thanks kingpinda, but I think not, and also, when stand by data, I don't have the possibility of push wilco button in MFCD to accept the task, and directly the task is "auto assigned"

No, I was the one saying that it works fine for me :) Once I set up ID.

This is very helpful, thank you. My main area of interest is in SP mission design and anyone who played my missions in the Betas will recall that there is extensive use of JTAC. If JTAC datalink is broken, it will not be worth the trouble of building missions around it. So can someone please provide final confirmation re. whether or not it works properly in SP and if the above solution is the right one and applies to SP? Thank you.

I can confirm that, for whatever reason, the GRP ID may change (in my case to 03), but it is possible to set it back to the correct one (01), before contacting the JTAC and after that you receive the Data! ...what I noticed is that sometimes the red triangle is outside the current Map display so you have to scroll a little bit, but the "readback correct, stand by for data" + Transmission is working as in the betas.

I don't think this is a showstopper. Just annoying and I'm sure ED will fix it in the Patch.

I get flashing text on my hud saying "message" where is this "wilco obs" button?

No, 'message' is for the 9-line briefing and you can acknowledge with the right MFD ack button or the UFC clr to delete it...

Edit: the 'WILCO' button is on the TAD it will be available after you read back the 9-line briefing and the JTAC acknowledges with 'Read back correct, transmitting data'.

Tested again. First mission of first campaign.

1. Ramp start with cheat Lwin+home (also tested previously with manual rampstart)

2. Switch on JTRS. I see friendly units as xxxx in TAD, etc...

3. I set NET Own ID and group ID both to 1

4. Take off. My wingman follow me.

5. Reach Waypoint CP, and hold.

5.1. I set again NET Own ID and group ID both to 1

5.5. When my wingman meets with me (is a bit slow ;-) ),I contact JTAC and ask for task (check-in).

6. Starts procedure like in Single Mission, where I haven't problem. Wait 9-line, after they say me "advise when ready for remarks and further talk-on", I say I'm ready for remarks, and after receiving them, I provide the 9-line readback...

7. JTAC confirm me readback okay, and say 'standby data'.

8. In this moment, I should receive a message on both MFCDs saying NEW TASKING; acknowledge this and, in the TAD, I should have a WILCO and a CNCMP option on the left and right, and a nice red triangle on the TAD. NONE OF THIS HAPPENS!!!! but...

... If I make a new waypoint in the CDU using the coordenates given by JTAC, I can locate the tanks and finish the task, and then, JTAC send me home.

But I want my triangle!!!!!!!

Yes I got that too once, I set the ID at the ground at startup, but when I was up and about to check in with JTAC I took a second look under NET and saw that it had changed again. So try those steps again, but before you contact JTAC check your NET page to see if its still what you set it to, or changed.

Hi gonvise,

I'll check on the first campaign tomorrow and see how it behaves for me.

I'm somewhere in the middle of the second campaign and had a lot of missions with JTACs that worked, apart from the GRP ID had to be reset to 1.

...hmm, just an idea: did you make a clean install? Or may you have 'old' missions left from the beta? Not that I think the missions lua script has changed, so just to see if something obviously different. ;)

Yes switch point 3 and 4 around.

Remember.. set ID AFTER gear up.. because of the bug.. buggy bug bug... and then check check before contacting JTAC check.

Then I dont know :( I had the same problem as you did, ran that mission several times and didnt get any data sent. Then tried the ID thing and it sent me data. Since I still couldnt finish it even with data sent, I had to refly it several times again, so I got to test out the fix several times and it worked every time after that. I really though that would fix it for you aswell and you would finally get your red triangle :) But looks like you will have to wait for the patch.

So there...

I've flown the first campaigns (Devil's Cross) first mission (Hold advance of Tank column), this evening. I don't use easy comms so the first thing I noticed is the frequencies: 140.0 VHF AM for Vaziani ATC and 131.0 VHF AM for the JTAC (Deathstar 4-1)!

This means you HAVE to switch between at least two channels on the VHF AM radio if not using Easy Comm Mode!

When I did the ramp start I checked the TAD and NET settings GRP ID - and again: only the GRP ID matters to exchange data inside the same group (page 313) - was set to 00 because EGI alignment wasn't ready and no Flight data loaded.

After alignment (NAV on the CDU) and switching to FLT PLAN mode on the EGI, I checked again: GRP ID was now set to 02! So I was in the wrong group. I switched to the correct GRP ID 01 and let the OWN ID untouched.

After take off (wheels up) I checked again and the OWN and GRP IDs did not change!

This means the bug or whatever causes the switching of the ID is not related to the wheels up, at least not on my machine.

After that I continued the mission as good as possible (two random failures CADC and some pressure sensor hit me out of nowhere way before CP :cry_2:) and JTAC worked fine.

I got the triangle and New Tasking message etc. though the triangle was outside the current map screen. I had to zoom out and then move the cursor.

For the so called 'bug' I don't think it is something in the Simulator but more in the Missions lua scripting, will try to look into the mission with the mission editor. Has anybody tried checking if the NET IDs appear in the mission editor, perhaps for the JTAC and he has assigned GRP 01?

Just a wild guess, I'll look into it tomorrow. It's nearly 2:00 pm here.

@ gonvise - may you post the track (.trk file) here? After the mission 'Save Track' chose folder then upload it to the post...

Helps a lot to see what is going on... :joystick:

Yeah I noticed in that mission in the mission editor that group was set to 2. I editted the mission to 1... But then in game the group id was set to 0 and I was identifying myself to atc as 9-1.... ?

The wheels up bug does seem to happen. But maybe not 1:1 also some users have experienced the group id reset/reversal not when own wheels are up but when WINGMEN wheels go up...

One thing though. Why do you mention the freq? I mean on the one hand its obvious with these frequencies that you will need to switch the vhf am radio to be able to talk to either to atc or jtac and on the other hand... If you don't get the nine line you most definately know you are not getting the triangle either. :p

edit: btw.. I haven't been able to find anything that would give me the idea what ID JTAC is looking for *yet*. I just noticed my group id being 2. But for some strange reason edditing this to 1 has unexpected results, see above.

I must say though that the editor is something i'm not quite familair with.

Yes, obviously :megalol: but there are so many newcomers out there and I remember at least one post where somebody "could not contact JTAC at all" so I hope if somebody searches for a solution here, he is directed to check the frequencies first.

It took me some time to get familiar with the radios. Especially the difference between easy and realistic modes... :book:

I'm using easy comunications, and the other options all realistic.

No problem with single mission JTAC training (I don't remember the name, "shooting gallery" I think)

First mission first campaign flown yesterday twice again :joystick:, and no triangle .

I set both net ids to one in flight, in CP zone, and one momment before contact JTAC.

The messages exchange with JTAC is like single mission; wait 9-line, after they say me "advise when ready for remarks and further talk-on", I say I'm ready for remarks, and after receiving them, I provide the 9-line readback... JTAC confirm me readback okay, and say 'standby data'. The task is assigned to me, because in the comms menu I have the options (engagement, contact, repeat debrief, DBA, check out, etc..).

But no message, no wilco button, no red triangle.

Ideas/questions...

1. Perhaps, I do something wrong in rampstart. The single mission starts in air and with all systems set and triangle works. In campaign mission, I switch on JTRS and... Anything more must be enabled to receive data?

2. For setting both ID's, I go TAD NET page, write 1 with the keyboard below HUD, and push both ID's, own and group... of course, I verify this, and return TAD main page.

3. At the beginning of the mission, I request startup to the ATC, then taxi, but when I request take off, they say me always "unabled to clear" or something like that. Finally, I take off without permission, but my wingman follow me. Is posible this may be influencing contact JTAC?

Thanks.

Regarding 3, you have to hold short of the runway and then ask for take-off clearance. When you're already on the runway, the controller sees an occupied runway and doesn't let you take-off. Logical, no? :)

Exactly, I hold short of the runway, as usual in other sims, but not clearance. Pehaps I put my front tire on runway  . I'll try again, thanks!

If it makes you feel better, that mission is a pain anyway, even if you get the data sent its still a mess trying to get a finish. I killed what they asked me to, used my wingman, went back to base and reloaded and killed some more, still no finish.

Assumming that the goal of this mission is to stop the tanks column, I shoot two tanks, say JTAC I have finish, they say me "No, only two tanks", I say them I can't acomplish, and then, they send me home... land at base, taxi, some beers in cantine... 51 %, and I can pass to the next mission...All this without my red triangle!!!!!:megalol:

Yes, this worked for me, too! It is not necessary to "win" or "finish" every mission in a campaign, but you do your very best to accomplish the tasks.

50% is often enough to enter the next stage of the campaign.

To the question above what is necessary to get the TADS / JTRS running and finally the red triangle, I guess you follow the standard ramp start procedures. This normally includes all steps to get all systems running.

One very important thing not so obvious from the manual is the EGI's GPS alignment!

It takes about 8 minutes to align the GPS system. If you switch to NAV on the CDU before the "INS nav ready" (or so) message is blinking(!) you have a poorly calibrated GPS, perhaps this has an influence (wild guess).

A possible way to verify may be to use the WIN+Pos1 shortcut to do a scripted ramp start. Do not switch or click anything until all start up stuff is ready... :music_whistling:

If this gives you the same results (no triangle) when everything else works fine, it wouldn't be an error in the startup procedure.

Another idea: did you make a clean install or installed release directly over a beta?

As I can't see anything else causing this behaviour with the data transmission I can only suggest to check your .trk file with the strange behaviour here. :surrender:

Yes, tested yesterday again with cheat rampstart, and waiting GPS aligment before switch to NAV.

Switch net id's to 1 in flight, before JTAC contact, no triangle.

Clean install

... and after 10 unsuccessful attempts without triangle in first mission , I did second mission, and changing id's, JTAC send me the red triangle without problems, like single mission.

I hate first mission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
