Guest Cayenne Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Just curious..what language is Warthog written in?
HellMutt Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Probably a combination of different things. I remember a job posting from ED for C++ developers, when they were between LOMAC and Flaming Cliffs IIRC, but now I think you need the .Net Framework (2.0 or 3.5) installed. I'd say they probably started with C++ and later moved to .Net, but some of the original components are probably still there. I'd hate to think of having to convert all the code for such a program to .Net. winz Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 My guess would be, as max performance is required, that the main parts of the simulation are written in c++. Even with JIT, managed code is a lot slower than native. The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3

Rusty_M Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I'm so glad I didn't respond straight away. I was going to answer English. And that was going to be a true genuine answer! winz Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I was going to answer English. And that was going to be a true genuine answer! And wrong. As the development team is based in Russia :P And from the comments in lua scripts we can see, that it is writen in Russian.:music_whistling: The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
Sinky Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I wonder if there are any funny comments hidden in the code, seen quite a few in my time where the developers got annoyed. Rusty_M Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I don't know, or really look at, code! I just try to use the software. It does remind me of something I read about Battle of Britain II Wings of Victory. You can get the AI to have text near the plane saying what technique it's performing. Migow Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 i think it's mainly written in lua except 3d engine( in c++) which lack hardware buffer ,culling occlusion , and maybe vertex array :( member of 06 MHR / FENNEC Mi-24P
