The chances of ED finding a publisher for a new fast jet flight sim are minimal - so I reckon they're going to have to go ahead and self-publish.

The success of F4:AF may have stirred publishers' interest in releasing a jet sim, but ED has said that they are interested in being completely independent. Of course, they probably aren't in a position to be 100% independent at this time. At least for a world-wide distribution.

F4AFs sales are proof that putting games on the selves might be the way to go combined with good advertising. eg going to E3 and doing PC mag interviews lets the community know more widely than the internet, other ways is to release an add on TV as well as appearing on PC game tv shows.

Nobody's denying it's a good idea - the question is whether ED has the resources to do that.

And if not . . . . . who could they team up with to publish it, and what would be the publishers cut?

You could have a scenario whereby the number of copies sold leaps, but ED get less money because the publishers get a fair chunk of it.

That thread, I'm willing to bet that some of them (I'm not going to name them) had no intention on buying anything from ED and SF just gave them more fuel to fart out of their mouth. teh heh But I do agree about getting rid of starforce as it seems to have hurt ED in term of sales more than it helped. I dare ED to make an annoucement that all their up coming sim will include SF. Go ahead... :D

Anyway, someone mentioned battlefront. Live for speed is online only but, yeah, I know they only have 3 person working on that thing. But still, it's extremely popular because it's 'fun' to play. Notice the 'fun' part.

So for starter, ED could just make a damn good simulator and let all the reviewers rave about it in gaming mags. A damn good simulator shouldn't feel like a training simulator, so please give the game some atmosphere. That way, people won't feel like they are alone. Then please shell out some cash and place a few ads in couple of popular gaming magazines.

There are ways to get the word out to gamers and still do away with publisher, but ED got to fork out some cash and advertise, man. Advertising works ya know. :D

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Well they could have a select few companies that could distribute it for them leaving publishing up too ED. eg in nz there is 1 company that is selling FC like naturalpoint. What if such companies were to distribute LOs successor on behalf of ED while CIS were to do the publishing. That way there would be just a couple of copies on the shelf of PC game stores. Alternatively such stores could recieve it directly from ED via the internet.

Thank you!

What about rights on reproducing of the source? Can we connect with the autor of the file? Which model of F-16/which engine is it?
