Insanatrix Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I know when I first installed during the beta I only had like 7 activations not 10. I also had to reformat and reinstall windows and everything and that took an activation. I thought it would only take another activation if a "good" portion of your hardware changed? or is that only if I deactivate first because im pretty sure I forgot to :music_whistling:
159th_Viper Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I know when I first installed during the beta I only had like 7 activations not 10.... That is correct. You have 8 activations and ten deactivations. You used one activation at first install, leaving you with 7. ..I thought it would only take another activation if a "good" portion of your hardware changed?..... Correct. An activation will be required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points as rated below: CPU ID: 13 Windows PID: 3 Computer Name: 3 Hard drive volume serial number: 3 MAC address: 6 RAM amount: 6 Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Insanatrix Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 It used one up just reinstalling windows. I'm down to 5 or 6 now. Just curious if thats working right or if that might be the cause people run out of activations. Nvm just realized I got 2 hard drives and I redid their Volumes to use a larger cluster size. That would be like 12 points there.

Insanatrix Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 TBH I can't remember, I'm not good with that stuff but I think I might have deactivated it first.
Conure Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Hi guys. It's been almost 7 days now with no reply - If one of you could let the guys that deal with this stuff know, I'd really appreciate it. EtherealN Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 They are working through queue as swiftly as they can. Respectfully, you are asking to be let ahead of the queue even though you caused the issue yourself (through not de-activating and constantly re-activating on a system you mentioned was undergoing major issues), and you will be granted a new activation automatically. There are people with support tickets for issues that are not of their own making, and I honestly feel you are being a bit disrespectful to those people. I know this is an inconvenience, but it is one that you could have avoided through not actively and repeatedly burning activations on a broken system. Yes, harsh, but tell the guy with driver issues that he should wait directly and you'll see what I mean, I hope. EtherealN Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Just use the protect executable and de-activate before doing anything radical with your computer. See page 12 of the install guide pdf.
