Good article, only a one correction.

 

But in the past 15 years or so air combat sims have stopped setting a place at the table for gamers like me.
Thiis 15 years you have differents products for you, Ace Combat, HAWK, and similars, this games (little simulation) its similar to great simulators of the past, for example Ace o the Pacific, Red Baron 3D, EF2000 (yes, the original EF2000, if you analice is very similar product), etc...

The simulators in the past are "arcade" (or more good say little simulation) in the present :smilewink:

 

I remember the exellent X-29 Retailator, but in this days, this sim is a little sim.

The difference I see is that in the past, even though those sims would not be regarded very highly from a realism standpoint today, they were still trying to "feel" realistic. Ace Combat, Hawx and the like aren't really aiming at that.
