bflagg Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Hi Guys... look at this pic... notice the compass heading in the hud as compared to the one on the frame of the canopy? (off 90deg..) Thanks, Brett
33rd_bratpfanne. Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 In adition, the waypoint designator in the Hud above the Heading seems sometimes not to work properly. Sometimes i have to make 360 degree turn in order to make it show proper direction to next waypoint. Would be great if this can be fixed. Guest Birdman67 Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Just a quick thought here. Does the electronic equipment on the F-15 point to ture north not magnetic north? If so the little compass on the winscreen is correct because is an 'old fashioned' magnetic compass pointing to magnetic north and thats NOT going to point to true north. I have seen this in FS2004 and its not a bug if the electronic nav equipment in the airplane points to true north (ie straight to the north pole). In the FS2004 I only use the magnetic compass as a back up in case my avionics mess up. gives you some idea on where you are or at least you wont go in a circle. In the FS2004 and I think real life the little magnatic compass is used only as a back up and not for navigation unless there is a avionics system falure. Just a thought. It might not be a bug. I read some other posts just now..oops and this might be a bug but ..... If you make the 2 headings match and one of them IS pointing to ture norh wont that not be accurate to a real airplane. Sorry if I am all wrong on this I have been up all night with playing LOMAC 1.1 and probably shouldn't post when I am tired ;)
Jester_159th Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 ED have already acknowledged it as a bug. Besides, if it's 90deg off, it can't be the difference between true and magnetic north. The difference is much smaller than that.

The difference is much smaller than that. It`s all "magnetic" up there :) You set your gyrocompass also to magnetic and the HUD shows the same. The standart compass will show some errors (a degree or 2) in some headings due to interference from airframe, engines, etc. and these deviations are always posted on a placard somewhere near the compass. ...and of course you have to be in a straight and level for it to show you correct indications.
Han Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 There is a history, when the several MFD in cocpit make a huge mistake in this compass when become active... :) With Best Regards! Daniel Tuseyev Il-2: Battle of Stalingrad and Rise Of Flight projects manager
