Someone needs to do the F14. I've been waiting along time for a good 14 sim. Im sick and tired of the F16,F18,F15,Migs and Flankers. Something different please.

This has been brought up already a lot in these forums, but how can you be sick and tired of the jets you list.

 

F-16 - Falcon 4 release 1999

F-18 - Janes F-18 release 1999

Flaming Cliffs - release 2003 and survey sim, not detailed like DCS

 

I can see if a new F-18 sim came out every 2 years, but are you really saying that a frequency of once a decade is too much? ;)

Just to be retro, I'd love to fly;

 

the Grumman A-6 Intruder or the Vought F-8 Crusader

 

Those were amazing aircrafts :)

 

As for training purposes; the McDonnell Douglas T-45 Goshawk is way up there as well :)

 

Loved flying all those aircrafts in FSX...

 

But there's already a wishlist post, so i'll shut it now :D

...which is a myth. Nobody (that counts) ever commented that a 2 seater was not possible.

 

The Turkey is insofar unlikely as it's no longer in the inventory and lots of the systems are still classified.

try free falcon... they had an F14 in there that was simply fantastic. I think you had to add one of the aftermarket pits to it but it was amazing.

Every body is complaining about the two cockpits but I don't see the impossibility of doing so, thought is difficult however.

 

But I'm 450% with a two cockpit version of any aircraft so +450 for that

Well, TBH, you've had some other F/A-18 sims (DI's and the Graphsim series), plus you have this new Seven-G sim being developed. The F-16 sims are a bit older, but there are still numerous iterations of Falcon 4.0 with much improved graphics, 3D cockipts and stuff.

 

Meanwhile, the last (and only) decent F-14 sim (Top Gun was terrible) was the F-14 Fleet Defender from 1994 and its graphics were sub-standard even then.

 

Don't get me wrong, I love it and still play it (my favourite sim of all times :) ), but it is borderline in the playability department starting with the very low resolution (320*200).

In the meanwhile to OP - you can fly the F-14D for FC2. And download the mod from lockonfiles or from VNAO website. Its better than nothing ;)

Well, maybe I can relate to that. I can only play a few of them and on my laptop (on business trips) mainly because of the more complex systems modeling (for that time) and specific aircraft which allow you to use keyboard and autopilot (e.g. F-14 Fleet Defender or Tornado - but A/G only).

 

Though, I never liked Falcon 4 that much and some graphics issue with Janes' F/A-18 bothered me enough not to play it at all. I guess it's this transitional period with software 3D and early 3D acceleration with simple objects and bad textures which kills the immersion for me. At least the older games look totally abstract so the immersion must stem from gameplay options.

You mean to say that not many would complain if they get it? Yeah, I think so too, especially if it was the F-14D version with a decent cockpit and A/G capabilities.

 

I've got my money on the F-16 though, but I pray it's not it :)
