rob10 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Is there any way to get ATC to repeat what they have said (i.e. if you miss the brg/rng when they give you the Initial Point heading)? Couldn't find anything in searching forums or manual other than getting a re-read of the 9-line briefing.
coolts Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 call jtac, something like "whats my target", also on the right mfcd, you have the messages page, "msg" which stores the JTAC 9-line [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 9700k | 32gb DDR4 | Geforce 2080ti | TrackIR 5 | Rift S | HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO Pedals
Zenra Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 ... also on the right mfcd, you have the messages page, "msg" which stores the JTAC 9-line Thanks, coolts - never realized the 9-line was saved in the messages, but it sure makes sense! I learn something new every day in this thing... Zenra Intel i7 930 2.8GHz; ATI HD5850 1GB; 1TB Serial ATA-II; 12GB DDR3-1333; 24 x DL DVD+/-RW Drive; 800W PSU; Win7-64; TM Warthog HOTAS
rob10 Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 Sorry, I actually meant to say getting them to repeat Initial Approach Fix (IAF) rather than Initial Point. Still learning so I haven't to the point of needing to get a repeat of a 9-line.
epoch Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I don't think you can get him to repeat the approach info, other than cancelling the request then asking again. On the other hand, if you ask him to taxi, he'll give you clearance about 100 bloody times. Then refuse to let you take off. He has OCD though, and we mustn't mock the afflicted.
BlackRazor Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Sorry, I actually meant to say getting them to repeat Initial Approach Fix (IAF) rather than Initial Point. Still learning so I haven't to the point of needing to get a repeat of a 9-line. You can't get him to repeat it so I suggest you note down the info he gives you and them proceed to create a waypoint with the CDU using the offset page. When the ATC give you the info create an overhead markpoint (using the MK button on the UFC), the go to the CDU offset page and create the waypoint (follow this tutorial if you don't know how to do that).
eurofor Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 It's obvious that ATC has a lot of room for improvement. Repeating the last transmission is a really basic thing that would be nice to have. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hassata Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I believe ED has said improved ATC is in the works. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
rob10 Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 Thanks for the answers all! I'm still on the steep upward slope of the learning curve but I'm getting there. You can't get him to repeat it so I suggest you note down the info he gives you and them proceed to create a waypoint with the CDU using the offset page. I had figured out the offset part, but I was using the TAD to set current location as a mission waypoint to use as initial point before I moved too far from the location (ya, I know, IAF doesn't need to be that precise), and by the time I would get finished doing that the directions would drop out of short term memory . Once I RTFM and realized all I had to do was hit the MARK key on the UFC it made life much more straight forward. I've spent enough time on MS Flight Sim in commercial aircraft that I should know enough just to write it down.
