BBQ Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 You guys have dirty minds, GEEZ. I'm talking about my tactical map. The thing is huge--would it normally be in the briefing room on a table?
MTFDarkEagle Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I would imagine yes ;) Or one can print another one, and fold it so it fits in a pocket? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
BBQ Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 You're not suggesting the pilots have maps this big folded up and stowed somewhere on their person? It's pretty sturdy with the lamination--could reinforce the freakin' titanium bathtub.
MTFDarkEagle Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 :P No I don't mean it laminated, just in regular paper? Or just sections of the map? What I mean is those pockets on the pilot's legs, with see-through plastic on top, for the map. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
BBQ Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 oic--got it. I'm trying to figure out how to actually use the thing. I know it's very accurate, and that one could attempt dead-reckoning navigation with it, etc.
Pilotasso Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Frame it, then cover it with plexiglass so you can plot with marker and then wipe it. You can then hang it on a wall. too :) .
ErichVon Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 WWII USA pilots had them sewn into their flight jackets, in case they bailed behind the front lines. (For once, I type a TOO SHORT message and the editor complains?) LOL Erich You guys have dirty minds, GEEZ. I'm talking about my tactical map. The thing is huge--would it normally be in the briefing room on a table?
Kenan Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I would have that map on my table only if there was a uniform included. And an officer's hat. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commanding Officer of: 2nd Company 1st financial guard battalion "Mrcine" See our squads here and our . Croatian radio chat for DCS World

BBQ Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 maybe I can hire some British babes to run around the room with billiard bridges, pushing checkers around or something
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 maybe I can hire some British babes to run around the room with billiard bridges, pushing checkers around or something For a shot of Bacardi and a bag of fries, they'll do pretty much anything you like! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
RIPTIDE Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) For a shot of Bacardi and a bag of fries, they'll do pretty much anything you like! You're lucky. IN my experience it takes about 8 pints of cider. Plus a Curry FFS. I'm obviously dealing with the posh ones. ;) Edited April 18, 2011 by RIPTIDE [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
nscode Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 lol . can't rep don't know why (you canno't rep this post) can't rep in Chit-Chat ;) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
YorZor Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 :P No I don't mean it laminated, just in regular paper? Or just sections of the map? What I mean is those pockets on the pilot's legs, with see-through plastic on top, for the map. Normally you place your jeppesen charts in there. Detailing approaches and such. VFR map or LLFC (for GA) are onboard by law. It folds quite easy since it's paper (a bit thicker than usual).
51GRIZZLY Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Now you ask where to put it i could tell you where .... But that would include rolling it up and a rather messy, painfull physical challenge including lots of lubricant.:D Not to mention that i would risk getting banned for offending language ;) Personally i have it pinned up on my wall in front of my desk so i just have to look up from my screen to see it.
