CBU on moving targets

Hi,

I received from J-TAC a task to attack coloum moving of tanks with CBU.

I acquired one tank with TGP, select CBU 97 in CCRP mode and release the bomb in a perfect time. ---> Direct miss..... :pilotfly:

The bomb always falls to a current static location of the target, but the target is moving...

Solved by Maverick, but I would like to use CBU next time...

Thank you....

You just have to aim at where the target will be, not where it currently is. None of the weapons systems will do this for you*, so it's a bit of guesswork at first, but practice it a few times and you'll start to get used to judging speeds. The left side of the HUD also shows the estimated flight time of the weapon which can help you judge where to aim.

* - the gun pipper has markers for where to offset for a target traveling at 20 knots (~ 40 kph).

Use CCIP and aim a bit ahead the target

I think I'm right in saying that the CBU 97 is an unguided bomb. So where you targeted originally will be the final hit point.

What you need to do is aim further up the road, travelling along it at speed to maximise the length of road covered by the bomblets. You can also adjust the height of release which will further increase this area. As you get better at guessing where to drop the bombs, you can then reduce these measures to increase the damage done.

It wasn't in the sim from the beginning (since it was supposed to be set by ground crew (if I remember right) so that might be the reason it isn't in the manual, if it isn't)

Inv page, choose bomb, type and station and change the.. Hof i think it is.. I'm not in game, but watching a movie atm :P

Thank to all of you for your help.

I was already thinking about using of CCIP, but I don't like this mode so much as CCRP. I think the CCIP is more dangerous and less accurate. (at least for me).

I will try to lock TGP a little in to front of the moving target.

Regarding the releasing heigt:

Do I understand correctly that I can change in flight the height of the CUB bomb separating?

Higher separating === lower damage to m2.

Thank you
