WarriorX Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 The CDU is IMHO the "Final Frontier" and will require a lot of study to find out all of it's capabilities. I dont know if any one tutorial can do the CDU justice. My best advice is to break up the CDU by Pages, and learn one at a time. You can start up a free flight ramp start mission, get the A-10C up and running. Then start by looking at the CDU and have the Flight Manual open to that page, then alt tab to reference back and forth. Good luck. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Is that you John Wayne?.......Is this me?" Scratchy Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) Here are a of that helped me. Like the other systems, if you study one task at a time you'll have better results. Especially the CDU. There's a lot of functionality here. Update: the first video I linked isn't what I thought. Worth watching, but not very useful. Edited May 5, 2011 by Scratchy one video not very good. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Intel i7-8700K @4.9Ghz | 32Gb memory DDR4 | Evga GTX 1080ti | Saitek Eclipse keyboard | Logitech Mx518 | CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle/Pedales | TIr5 | Win10 x64 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The manual isn't organized well for learning. Better used a reference for someone who's already got a basic idea of what's going on. I've started trying to annotate the CDU a bit on the DCS wiki: http://www.dcswiki.com/index.php?title=Category:CDU_pages_(A-10) In my experience, the most common uses of the CDU are: Viewing waypoint information Adding waypoints based on JTAC data or whatever Using DIVERT to get airfield info Using OSET to create waypoints based on offset data If you know how to do those four things, you'll probably be fine in 95% of situations. I'd recommend focusing on those tasks. Once you have a good handle on them, the rest of the CDU will make a lot more sense. DCS Wiki! :book:
