LostOblivion Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Me and my buddy wanna try out TARS with DCS A-10C and TS3, but we're having a hard time making it work. Right now we are using TS3 RC1, but the current version of TARS doesn't seem to work with this version of TS. So my question is: do anyone know how to make TARS work with TS, and how? Right now we are using TS3 RC1, but the current version of TARS doesn't seem to work with this version of TS. So my question is: do anyone know how to make TARS work with TS, and how? He mentioned that TARS wouldn't work with the new version of TS3 in the other thread - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1196111#post1196111 Note to TARS users: Teamspeak has recently released version RC1. This will not work with the current version of TARS. I'll be updating you guys shortly on when the port to the new sound system is completed. In the meantime you will need to continue using beta 36 with TARS. So I guess you'll need to roll back if you want to use it. DCS Wiki! :book:
LostOblivion Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 Oh, I see. How do I do that? And also I remember we tried using beta 36 a while back, but when we both logged into TS it said TARS not running on both of our TS clients. :( Nice plane on that gun... Also not sure how to troubleshoot a TARS install...especially considering I haven't been able to get it working with the Hog myself. :( Actually, you might try this, found it with google: http://ftp.4players.de/pub/hosted/ts3/releases/ DCS Wiki! :book:
LostOblivion Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 Oh thanks! Just what I was looking for, but unfortunately I cannot get TARS working either. I got TARS running, beta 36 running, and with the server running on my machine me my client connected to it, just says TARS: Not running. Anyone know how to make this work? Nice plane on that gun... Headspace Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 It'll say "TARS: Not running" until you actually turn DCS on and go into a mission together. So try doing that--it'll work fine with Beta 36. Server version (of Teamspeak) doesn't matter. The new TARS will be out soon I've just been tweaking some things and then we'll start beta testing it.
hog_driver111th Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Good to hear Headspace. We're awaiting the word for when we can change channels and not hear the annoying wingmen, lol. Seil Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I have TARS running perfectly on beta 36, UHF, AM and FM works great. Luckily still had the installer for beta 36 so I could revert from RC1 until new version of TARS is out. -Seil -Seil WotG Founder & A10C Lead
LostOblivion Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 Ah, does it still say not running when it's only me in a multiplayer server? Looking forward to the next release. :) Nice plane on that gun... OS764 P930@4 MBUD3R M6GB G5870 SSDX25 CAntec1200 HTMHW
LostOblivion Posted June 5, 2011 Author Posted June 5, 2011 Alright, I still cannot get TARS working. I have no idea what we are doing wrong. Here's what we are doing: I start TS server locally on default port 9987. I allow it thru my Windows firewall. I start TARS and... ... click A-10C and press Install TARS. ... type in 127.0.0.1 and port 9987. ... click Install Teamspeak Plugin. ... click Network and type in 0.0.0.0 and 9987. [*] I open TS client beta 36 and enable the TARS plugin. [*]I connect to my local server by typing in localhost and port 9987. [*]My friend connect to my TS server through hamachi vpn on my hamachi ip and port 9987. [*]We both join my mp server, and fire up our radios, tune to the same channel, nothing happens. I've added a picture showing the different dialogs. What are we doing wrong? :( Nice plane on that gun... OS764 P930@4 MBUD3R M6GB G5870 SSDX25 CAntec1200 HTMHW
Cibit Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I would suspect hamachi is your culprit i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Seil Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 (edited) Actually, hamachi has nothing to do with his problem, and if you don't know much about hamachi, the fact that his friend is already connected to the TS server should be a hint that it isn't the problem. What the problem is in fact is that in the TARS control panel, you are setting the port for TARS to the TS port.... don't do that. You need the TARS control panel port set to 48101 When you run a mission in DCS, a set of TARS scripts open a socket (127.0.0.1:48101) and use this socket to communicate with the TARS plugin. Your TS client uses port 9987 to connect to the TS server, 2 completely different communication links. Hope it works for you once you correct that setting. Your friend also needs to change that. And you may need to adjust the firewall accordingly if it doesn't work at first. Note: If you cant figure out which port numbers to use where, uninstall TARS and reinstall it. Then don't change any of the port or address settings, defaults for TARS should all work fine. -Seil Edited June 5, 2011 by Seil -Seil WotG Founder & A10C Lead
LostOblivion Posted June 5, 2011 Author Posted June 5, 2011 Alright, thanks, this cleared up a bit. So seeing as how tars itself connects to the tars plugin running on the TS client as a server, I need to make sure the TS client is added to the firewall? Nice plane on that gun... OS764 P930@4 MBUD3R M6GB G5870 SSDX25 CAntec1200 HTMHW
Seil Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 (edited) Typically, your firewall will allow for local connections to pass just fine. Which would mean that you only need to open ports for services that require other computers to connect, i.e. your friend connecting to your TS server. However, in the event that your firewall rules are more restrictive in that every connection requires and explicit rule defined to pass traffic, you would have to open that port for TARS as well. Like I said, you SHOULD be able to get by without any new firewall rules, but in the event you need to create a new rule, you should just allow all traffic from localhost. Do this: Get all your port settings correct Launch TS and connect to the server with TARS plugin enabled Go into an instant action mission on DCS Engage autopilot Alt + Tab out of the game and click on your name in TS SHOULD list TARS radio freq info If not, check firewall logs / settings for blocked traffic from localhost or on that port number and correct accordingly. LostOblivion Posted June 6, 2011 Author Posted June 6, 2011 It works! I haven't checked with my buddy yet, but seeing as it now says something other than TARS: Not running in TS, I reckon it works now. Thanks! Nice plane on that gun... OS764 P930@4 MBUD3R M6GB G5870 SSDX25 CAntec1200 HTMHW

MemphisBelle Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I am a bit confused about all of that. I installed as mentioned in the manual (pdf) and checked whether everything is on its proper place. Then I went into a MP session and noticed that Tars on TS3 (beta 64) says not running. I disconnected, opend up a instand Mission and while it was loading I noriced: that TS says: TARS: Version 1.0.0 Beta 11 DCS A-10C Warthog MemphisBelle OK AN/ARC-164 UHF (0.000) AN/ARC-186 VHF AM (0.000) AN/ARC-186 VHF FM (0.000) What is about that freuencies, and does it run in SP only? (What would make no sense...) does someone have any explanations about this please... I am totally new to TARS. Thanks in advance MemphisBelle BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection
LostOblivion Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Seil do you think we need the server to run beta 36 as well? Like it is now, I am running ts3 server rc1 and we are connecting to this with ts3 client beta 36, but although it says something else than "TARS: Not running" for me, my buddy gets only "Not running". I can't test, because I cannot find any ts3 server beta 36 installations anywhere... MemphisBelle: You need to click your name in TS3 for the TARS info to update itself, which probably explains why you didn't see anything when you were in a multiplayer session. :) Nice plane on that gun... Seil Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 No, Server version doesn't matter. The only thing the TARS plugin interacts with is the client. And I'm assuming the only real reason why RC1 isn't working with TARS is because the folks developing TS3 changed around a couple details on how the plugins communicate with TS3 client itself, therefore breaking the TARS plugin. When the new TARS plugin comes out it will be compatible with RC1. Meanwhile if you'd like to try a beta 36 server just for the helluva it, or maybe come along with my squadron on some flights, you'd be welcome to use our TS3 server.... plenty of room. ***Re-Iteration: I am running a beta 36 server online :D Just pm me for the info. -Seil -Seil WotG Founder & A10C Lead

They completely changed the way it handles sound manipulation. It was far more than just a few tiny details. Client to client communication is more or less the same.
LostOblivion Posted June 27, 2011 Author Posted June 27, 2011 Cool! I'll give you a shout when I'm bored! :) Btw, we got it working now. TARS rocks! :) Can't wait for terrain masking. Nice plane on that gun... OS764 P930@4 MBUD3R M6GB G5870 SSDX25 CAntec1200 HTMHW
