cichlidfan Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Keep in mind, different games can greatly vary the load on your GPU and CPU and thus their power requirements. As for your build, you have, perhaps, the best options available for what you purchased but you can only choose from what they offer. Unless that included a Gold rated power supply, then you did not get the best available product on the market, in that category. The best hardware in the world will run like crap on a medium grade power supply. ComradeLucifer Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 for some reason I've lost track functionality with ARMA II and Operation Arrowhead...what the hell? I'll ty rebooting
ComradeLucifer Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 Yeah...I've lost the ability to track in ARMA II and Operation Arrowhead. This really SUCKS...NO progress and actual backsliding-all of a sudden ARMA has lost tracking capacity.
ComradeLucifer Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 so ARMA is back- some how it got turned off in options... still having trouble with the power driver state failure...jeffyd123 if you could help it would be really appreciated. Also, thanks alot cichlidfan- you guys are both great.
jeffyd123 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 k, so arma is running ok (TIR aside)? stick plugged in too? (i want to test the pc with a game that stresses the pc, not an old game). "still having trouble with the power driver state failure" <<< is this causing a bluescreen? if so we need those dump files to see whats causing it. it will likely have a different casue with each one. i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor
ComradeLucifer Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 ARMA II and Operation arrowhead both run fine with TIR- I accidentally had it turned off in the options somehow. I played a small amount with the joystick plugged in but was more concerned with the lack of TIR functionality (which was a result of my own stupidity). It does cause a bluescreen- it seems to be a 9f error. I have to stop soon- are you able to help me tomorrow? Like I said this is a state of the art Dell and was NOT cheap so this is pretty disheartening. I was thinking of investing in a good quality external USB Hub- do you think this is a good idea? I'll be working on this some more tomorrow- will test ARMA some more with the joystick but now it appears that the BSOD either occurs during playing or within 5 minutes of exiting the program. Whenever I get a bluescreen it is a POWER_DRVIER_STATE_FAILURE BSOD like you've seen in that one minidump file.
jeffyd123 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) i still need those dump files buuuuuuudddddyyy. the POWER_DRVIER_STATE_FAILURE is a generic failure code... we need the other detailed error thats making it happen. Ill check in tonight & tomorrow. as far as buying a hub that may not be a bad idea...Hmmmmm... Ok question for you>>> did arma run ok before having the stick plugged in or do you normally run arma with the stick hooked up? at this point im still leaning about 70% that your stick is overloading your USB voltage. You may want to buy a hub at walmart or something tomorrow. remember, upload all of those dump files. ComradeLucifer Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 I'll try and get some more blue screens tomorrow jeff; right now I only have that one dump. ARMA ran fine- but I tried good morning t-stan from Operation Arrowhead. I didn't get to try it with the stick in- I will do that tomorrow. So no need to check in tonight- I'm gonna stop for the night on this problem. By dump files you mean the .dmp minidumps right? Right now I only have the one, but I'll try to generate more tomorrow.
jeffyd123 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 yup the .dmp minidumps. i asked if arma ran good before this issue... yes, no? be sure to test arma in a chenarus mission as it stresses the pc more. k lucifer, see ya tomorrow. i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor
sungsam Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) Additionally go to computer mamager > USB controllers > USB Root Hub > Power Managment Tab and unchek the Allow computer to tern off this devise to save Power. This Is a well known recomentation for X52. The best is to compine it using an external USB HUB also. Note: The path is from XP there is an analogus path for Win7 Amazon http://www.amazon.com/USB-Highspeed-Port-Adapter-Silver/dp/B002FFZGCU/ref=pd_cp_e_3 But Hey! ComradeLucifer Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 good morning :). I'm going to get to working on this, but I'll be gone between 1 and 5 I believe today. I'll be swinging by best buy most likely, so I'll pick up a powered USB Hub. I'll start attempting to generate minidumps soon. In answer to your quesstion Jeff, yes, ARMA seemed to run fine- I'll test it more extensively today.
ComradeLucifer Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 just did as you advised sumsang- disallowed ability to power down USB ports to save power.
ComradeLucifer Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 you know, I just thought of something- I have one USB 3.0 Port that handles trackir normally while I put the saitek in one of the standard USB 2.0s- do you think that could be the problem?
jeffyd123 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 its possible.... try anything that comes to mind. i think the hub will help. good tip too sungsam, but do you do that to all of the USB root hubs? i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor
ComradeLucifer Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 hey jeff, I did do that to both of the USB hubs displayed in the device manager. i have one 3.0 USB, two 2.0s, but could only follow sungsams advice with two USB Root Hubs- couldn't find a third. Haven't beem able to create minidumps yet today (have yet to fire up A-10C). I'm gonnna have to go in an hour and most likely will be bsack by 5-6. I'm going to swing by best buy- could you perhaps suggest a really good, high quality powered Hub? thanks for the help Jeff!
sofie_59 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I am a novice to this but will Hotas warthog work ok if i use a usb hub as in the picture Sungsam post? If so i will buy one and put it in a usb3 port, because i only have two ports in the front and need three ports in front!( one for the dongle for Steel Beasts and two for my hotas, ok i have a lot of ports in the back of my pc but i cant reach them easily. At BB do not buy Dynex (I think that it how its spelled), anything else they have should be fine. Again, buy a name you have heard of at least. Also, BB website for reviews. jeffyd123 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 i like belkin stuff but their quality isnt what it used to be (like everything else thats made by the chinese). be sure to get a powered one. i have about 8 usb root hubs on my desktop pc.... dont know why. Im seeing them in the hardware manager BTW. Ive been having some problems with my rig after playing for 6 hours or so.... the lights on my x65 will go dim and the PC starts to act weird... sometimes BSODing too. usually it will just slow way down and needs a restart. I havent figured out if its my stick causing the problem or my USB system is starting to fail. the basic lesson in all of this is that computers are evil and they do suck and they would kill us all if they only knew how LOL. i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor

cichlidfan Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 i have about 8 usb root hubs on my desktop pc.... dont know why. Im seeing them in the hardware manager BTW. Desktops will potentially have lots more depending on how many headers exist on the motherbd. I don't remember how the structure works but for a laptop with only 2 USB 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0 there were only going to be two root hubs.
