Iceman2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Is there any way to disable that annoying, auto camera zoom when entering cockpit, and when using F6, F7 views?
Soul Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Good question and I would like to know as well, I have wondered that myself but just put up with it so far.
Mud Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Is there any way to disable that annoying, auto camera zoom when entering cockpit, and when using F6, F7 views? If you mean the automatic zooming out some when you start a mission, I'd also like to know. Speed Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 (edited) I've always thought that this was forced in the software for some very good reason... you probably don't want to disable it, even if you could. It's been there since beta. I think maybe beta 3 or 4 or something like that... but I can't remember exactly. Probably will be fixed when ED updates their code for whatever part of the engine requires the slow zoom out a mission start. But this all is just my guess. But seeing as it's an annoying feature, and has been there since Beta, it's not a bad idea to assume that ED would have fixed it a long time ago if it were easily possible to do so. Nate--IRL-- Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 It is meant to be a "Feature", I hate it too. I always hit "Zoom Normal" when entering the pit. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Speed Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 It is meant to be a "Feature", I hate it too. I always hit "Zoom Normal" when entering the pit. Nate Really, so there's no good reason for it? Its always completely wastes the first five seconds or so I am in the pit. I can't do anything because my being able to control my zoom level is almost as important to me as moving my head with Track IR. What is this "zoom normal"? Nate--IRL-- Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I believe it was an incomplete feature intended for ultra-wide screens (Eyefinity etc.) The trick to regaining those 5 seconds is to zoom slightly forward when it starts and the then hit zoom normal - this cancels the slow zoom out. Luckily I use these commands anyway and they are bound to my stick. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Mud Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 It does kind of add drama, no? Like you're being "Matrixed" into the cockpit ;) Spoiler W10-x64 | B650E Gigabyte Aorus Master | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | Noctua NH-D15 G.Skill Trident ZS Neo DDR5-6000 64Gb | MSI RTX 3080ti Gaming X Asus Xonar AE | VPforce Rhino + TM Hotas Warthog MFG Crosswind pedals | Valve Index

Migo Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I actually like it, but probably would be cool to have it as an option.
Irregular programming Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I was gonna make a post about this because I hate this as well. I have effectively disabled this on my machine. It seems to me like the game thinks you are zoomed in when you are at "zero" zoom. I have my zoom in and out mapped to the range knob on my Cougar and what I did was to trim the zero point to where the game would actually zoom me out too. So when you start you would already be in the correct position and you would not get the annoying zoom in the beginning of each mission.
CEPEGA Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Hey cool, will try that too when i'm back home from work and applied my U2nxt wich i picked up today at the customs office :) Very long 2 hours to go now Asus Z97-PRO | Intel i7-4790K @ 4.00Ghz | beQuite!
