Anyone have a procedure?

I can't find in the XLS key file the keys to change between Bhot and Whot.

How do I slave the mav seeker to the TGP?

Posted

Err, I've never done that, not sure you can. My procedure is:

1 - Find target on TGP

2 - Set SPI

3 - Coolie Right once to switch to Mav

4 - China Forward Long to slave to SPI

5 - Slew if necessary, otherwise TMS Up and then fire.

How do I slave the mav seeker to the TGP?

Try this:

1. Display a mav on the right MFCD and the TGP on the left.

2. Make the TGP the SOI (Coolie hat left long).

3. Make the TGP designate the SPI (TMS up/fwd long).

4. Slave all sensors to the SPI (China hat right long).

5. Slew the TGP - you will see the mav seeker move on the right MFCD as you move the TGP as shown on the right.

I'll give that a shot.

Thanks!

This is how I have been engaging multiple targets with MAVs slaved to the TGP.

Before engaging, I turn the AAP to MARK and I position the TGP over each target, and MARK them (TMS right short).

Then I slave the TGP to steerpoint (China Hat aft long).

Then I slave all to TGP (China Hat forward long).

Now when I change steerpoint between my markpoints, the TGP and the MAV automatically slew to the markpoint.

Now I close in to firing range and do the following steps with MAV as SOI:

1. TMS up short to lock up the target

2. Weapons release

3. Change my steerpoint to the next Markpoint

4. (This is important) Slave maverick to the SPI (China Hat forward long).

5. Go to 1. for as many targets as there are.

This seems to work well, and is similar to the technique I've seen to launch multiple GBU-38's in one pass.

But, can anyone tell me what real A-10 pilots do? I cant seem to get the 'quick fire' mode of the mavericks to consistently work, because slewing the mav seeker often just locks up the wrong target again. Maybe they fly smoother than me?

I've tried doing this today, but couldn't get the Mav to launch. I kept getting the inhibit warning. This is while still having the TGP as SOI. Only way around this was to quickly change to Mav as SOI and move the slew cursor of the SPI and then back on it, which seemed to remove the inhibit.

Is this right?

The Mav needs to be SOI and locked to launch. Once you set SPI with the TGP, change SOI to Mav and press TMS forward short. That should give you a lock.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.
