So while running one of the missions, "target practice" i believe, JTACS gave me coordinates that seemed to be nowhere near the actual targets. After a bit of searching here I found others had had that same problem, and that at its core it was a difference between the UTM grid zone they were entering the coordinates in, and where the target really was.

In order to help others, I figured I'd use my mapping skills to offer a bit more legible map than the one on the DCS main site.

Right now it's only an 8.5 x 11 map, since it's really only for quick reference, but I can make larger versions if people are interested.

I'm also working on figuring out the exact best map projection for this area, and so will probably update it in the future.

let me know if there are any changes you would like to see

If you have Google Earth installed on your computer (free download from Google), you can go to the following website and download a MGRS grid overlay app for GE that will let you zoom in on any spot in the world and get the MGRS coordinates down to a 1 meter resolution I believe. Kind of fun to go to the Georgia region in GE and zoom in on the real Batumi airport, etc. :)

App for MGRS grid overlay is here:

I going to print this when I get back to office. Thank you!

Since my TM WH is still in repair and my downtime from the sim is still extending I have a question: Is it possible to see 38/37T position in CDU at any given time?

THanks!

Problem with that one is that even though it's large, it's not legible, at least not legible enough to see the mgrs zone designations

Seems fine to me - the blue color is visible enough to read yet keeps the gridlines and designations from becoming obtrusive.
