msimon Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Remember that if it goes back to default, the setting is to have auto lase off. Many a flights did I go crazy tryng to find out why my bombs were over shooting so much. Is this a bug? or is it true to life. I guess its repetition and you will soon learn to do this without knowing.
mvsgas Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Depends how you select the weapons. If you select HUD as SOI and use HOTAS DMS Left or right your saved profile should load IIRC To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
cichlidfan Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I do find my settings being set back to defaults, so its is annoying to go back into the profile to change it all back again. If i don't go back to main DMS page im fine. If you select the weapon you wish to use by the OSBs it creates a new manual profile which is why it is back to defaults. If you look at the picture in Vipers earlier post you can see that his profile is list as M/GBU-12. That tells you that it is a manual profile and not anything already programmed. As long as you use the DMS left/right to select weapons you will not see the 'M/' and any changes that you made before should be intact. msimon Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Guys thanks for your patience, we did get there in the end. Also thx cichlidfan for that, i have found that the profiles can be edited then be chosen later in flight unless i choose a weapon by OSB by which is M. Again thanks all.
Lange_666 Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Isnt there an issue with selecting which weapon right from the DSMS and not cycling through the different weapons with the DMS? At first when I selected right from DSMS page the profile I set up on the ground didnt get applied. BrandonBP Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I do find my settings being set back to defaults, so its is annoying to go back into the profile to change it all back again. If i don't go back to main DMS page im fine. Well this answers my question why some of my LGB's don't hit anywhere near the target. If I manually hit the lase key (NWS) every time, will it ensure that the laser is on even if the default has reset the bomb back to auto-lase: off? I'd rather use the laser guided bombs because I can carry 3 GBU-12's per pod instead of just the one GBU-38.
Harzach Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 It helps when you are editing profiles to rename them in such a way that, with a quick glance at the HUD, you can tell whether or not things will behave the way you expect.
Brutal Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I love reading posts like these. They help me learn more all the time. Its the first time Ive heard to look in the lower left of the hud to see wht the SOI is. Thanks
159th_Viper Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I love reading posts like these. They help me learn more all the time. Its the first time Ive heard to look in the lower left of the hud to see wht the SOI is. Thanks Just remember that the indication in the bottom-left of the HUD tells you what the Current SPI-Generator is and not the current SOI. That is not to say that they cannot be the same: They can. They could also however differ, ie you can have a Maverick as a SOI and the TGP generating the SPI or the TGP as SOI and the Steerpoint generating the SPI etc etc.......important to keep that in mind.
