rico Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Hello... I want my JTAC to mark the target by IR. I put a HMMVV in my mission. It could lase the target, but not IR mark it. Though i selected "Designation IR" in the MissionEditor...What am i making wrong? Regards, Rico
majapahit Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 there should be a radio request to JTAC to have them light it you also have to follow procedure to get to that request (tell JTAC you're above/near the target, somehow, sorry not at my box) | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
Harzach Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I have tried this so many times - once I call contact, the JTAC has nothing to add other than "Well, what are you waiting for? Kill 'em!"
majapahit Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I have tried this so many times - once I call contact, the JTAC has nothing to add other than "Well, what are you waiting for? Kill 'em!" find a mission that has specific IR or Laser lighting night mission more chance if JTAC doesnt script properly the mission you're using is not set up right, try another | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
Harzach Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I guess the question here is...what's the right way to set this up?
Warthogger Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I guess the question here is...what's the right way to set this up? I've never managed to get a ground-based JTAC to use an IR pointer on any of my night missions - not sure why. What I have found that works consistently is to use an airborne helo like the Kiowa as a AFAC instead. The Kiowas will happily sparkle a target any time for whatever reason.
majapahit Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I guess the question here is...what's the right way to set this up? WIKI tells you how "How to add a JTAC to a mission" http://dcswiki.com/index.php?title=How_to_add_a_JTAC_to_a_mission example I saw in BULLRUN2.miz http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/84723/ there are ~8 JTAC's when you 'view unit list' UN"HIDDEN" then you see all the targets with nearby assigned Action: FAC - Assign Group f.i. at 'Mike' Infantry M249 JTAC 'Moonbeam' Set Freq '148' Invisible 'true' FAC - Assign group 'enemy 3' / the target &seems to work (maverick - H): IP INBOUND SPARKLE SPARKLE RESPOND CONTACT SPARKLE (SNAKE) | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |

cypher_142 Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Hey Guys, I have a problem with the JTAC IR marker at night...It just doesnt work. I Set the JTAC to Mark my traget using the IR marker for use with Guided bombs, but once i check in and receive the remarks i get the reply NO MARKER. Only happens at Night Any ideas I7 4770K@4.5 GHZ, Gigabyte Z87X-OC FORCE, 24GB Ram, Aorus GTX 1080 TI extreme edition, 500 GB SSD,120 GB SSD , 2TB HDD, Corsair H80i, Win 7 Ultimate 64bit, Logitech G940,TrackIR 5 + Pro Clip [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Nate--IRL-- Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Please post the mission you have made. Note the IR poimter is only for viewing through your Night vision goggles, not for guiding bombs. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
cypher_142 Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Will do once i get home...Unfortunately stuck in the office when i could be flying :( I7 4770K@4.5 GHZ, Gigabyte Z87X-OC FORCE, 24GB Ram, Aorus GTX 1080 TI extreme edition, 500 GB SSD,120 GB SSD , 2TB HDD, Corsair H80i, Win 7 Ultimate 64bit, Logitech G940,TrackIR 5 + Pro Clip [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Nate--IRL-- Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Note also the JTAC has to be within 1km of the target, with clear Lines of sight, in order to mark targets. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

cypher_142 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Hey Guys thanks for the help...fixed the issue by doing a clean install of 1.1.0.9. Eddie Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 1km, really? Wow, that's awful close. From an air perspective yes, from the ground no. Many CAS engagements in Afghanistan involve aircraft employing weapons only a couple of hundred metres (or even less) from friendly troops/the JTAC they are talking to.
Mud Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Can anyone have a look at this mission? I trimmed out everything apart from the JTAC part. I have the idea that all criteria are met to have them mark with IR, yet I'm still getting no mark. 08 - Sitting Wolves Test.miz Spoiler W10-x64 | B650E Gigabyte Aorus Master | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | Noctua NH-D15 G.Skill Trident ZS Neo DDR5-6000 64Gb | MSI RTX 3080ti Gaming X Asus Xonar AE | VPforce Rhino + TM Hotas Warthog MFG Crosswind pedals | Valve Index

Mud Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) They are triggered before that time (about 6s into this mission test actually). Else I would obviously not be able to even contact JTAC. In the full mission under construction, the player is to destroy units spotted by the SEALs. Once these units are destroyed, the player get's a distress call from the SEALs requesting CAS. Nate--IRL-- Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Don't forget the IR is very very hard to see. Only the end target point is really visible, that is if it isn't obscured by what it is targeted on - it usually helps if you request the JTAC to SNAKE the beam in order to spot it. If is in the 9-line it is in the mission. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
