Perriwen Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Hi, I'm one of those people who like to make videos and 'screen shot' art with sims like this, and this seems like one of the most perfect sims for that. But, I have a question. I have seen a few videos where they have moved the free camera to almost right next to the ground such as this one: . An example is the 1:13 mark. However, when I try to do it in the sim, I can't go any lower than about canopy level, it just won't go any lower. How exactly does one get that angle?
Rdiehl3 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Im not sure but trying setting up in ME a solider that moves (wp's) at airport or wherever select him at cntrl +f11 to be at his height aka 6ft above ground ather than 14ft aka canopy.
cichlidfan Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 To get the camera down low you need to remove the terrain restriction. Go to this folder...C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Config\View and edit, with Notepad++, the server.lua file, Change this line, it is near the top of the file, CameraTerrainRestriction = true so that is reads false where it currently says true. This will allow you to move the camera down to and below the ground. EvilBivol-1 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Open Config/View/Server.lua. In line 19, change CameraTerrainRestriction from ""true" to "false". Make sure you are using Notepadd++ or similiar code editor when saving changes in the Lua files to avoid corruption. / Sniped. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. MemphisBelle Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 once you did as mentioned above, hit F11 to get to respective Airfield where your AC is located. Now you can move the camera as you wisch to make shots like those ones below (pretty much basic shots...just serves as example) BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection

EvilBivol-1 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 The beauty of the Free Cam view is that you can jump to it from any other view by hitting LCTRL+F11, includimg from the F10 map view. Keep in mind, you can also adjust the camera movement fore/aft using the mouse wheel. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
Perriwen Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 Thanks everyone! Very much appreciated.
311Gryphon Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Old post, but I'm curious how they got camera views in that video from 3:11 to about 3:19. I have a feeling I just haven't found the right commands or speed settings but I can't do a realistic camera strafe or linear pan (not perfectly sure how to describe it). There is another video of the F-15C where they got an outstanding pan past two planes in formation. http://www.youtube.com/user/311Gryphon i7-8700, 32 GB DDR4 3000, GTX 1080 TI 11GB, 240 GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Dual (sometimes Triple) monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, TrackIR [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Weltensegler Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) I know some people use a 3D-mouse to get footage like that.
