I'm thinking of the X52 Pro AND the TrackIR5 as a substitute.

Note my sig. It works for me.:D

Yeah, that'll work great for you. Don't need the extra cost of the pedals either since you'll have the twist on the stick.

Agreed, the pedals were a more recent addition. The twist in the stick will do fine although you will want to mess with the curves since the twist is a short motion but that is easy to set up.

There are plenty of profiles for that stick in the Wiki if you want to use one. A couple TIR profiles too!

I also agree with x52 solution

you can also magnet modify your x52 for maximum precision. I can help you with that its an easy mod and every x52 owner should do it.

Do tell more!

Out of interest, I was considering the TM Warthog but do I read right that it doesn't have a twist for rudder capability?

Just like the real thing, yes! You do need actual rudder pedals when using the TMWH.

Yeah, I sorely missed that when I switched from the x52 to the Warthog. At first I tried using the keyboard commands but removing your hand from the throttle during takeoff and landing was getting difficult.

Then I tried mapping the little side lever (the grey INCR/DECR one) to steering. Forward = right and Back = left. SOOO confusing. :) Totally not recommended. :joystick:

Now though, all is smooth flying. Next up... MFCD panels! I don't have enough room for them on my desk though so not sure what I'll do with them.

I highly recommend the magnet mod to all x52 users;

this spanish guy does it better and easier then the guy on the video so I recommend this one.

As a result, even the slightest input is transferred to the plane resulting in very precise manuevers, formation flight, AAR and landing.:pilotfly:

X52 Pro just ordered! Does anyone know if there is a big difference between TrackIR 4 and 5? I'm debating if the price jump from the 4 is really justified.

Depends how big the price gap is -- it can't hurt to get the newer one in terms of future support etc. I have both and didn't notice any significant differences when I upgraded to the 5. I think it is a little bit better, but TIR 4 is already well within "good enough" territory. TIR 5 might handle less-ideal conditions (glare etc.) better, but I think most of that optimisation is in the software and the new software supports the v4 hardware.

I tried exactly what Viper told me and it worked to no avail. In windows, it was not picking up movement either in the deadzone / axis configurator. I uninstalled all the drivers, did a driver sweep, and reinstalled.

It works now.

Here is a new vid I made!

Just a quick video from a recent game session with the 76th TFW Tankbusters. Had some fun doing missions and this sweet formation take-off. Thanks to Kylania and Python for again, taking me under their wing and teaching me the basics of DCS. Been steadily improving! Definitely a study sim worth trying out if you're debating on this!

yeah, I tried all the alternatives and the TiR really is superior to anything else.

I actually met the EE engineer that designed all of them (fixed his PC). not a very interesting guy frankly and he isnt all that proud of it ( he did it as contract work for them) but I met him LOL.

Having fun with your new Sim ryyy? LOL
