Pyroflash Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) So, I managed to delete all of my backups for my games, including my old IL2 1946 that I downloaded back in 2007. Well, I go over to the website, and their new store doesn't have me registered as having bought any games. Well, this is a problem I thought would be simply remedied by contacting support; however this is the message I got back from them(Digital River was more than helpful in pointing out how bad Ubisoft is): "Response Via Email(xxxxx) - 07/19/2011 06:15 PM xxxxxx, According to our system, you did not purchase that game from our current online store so I do not have the ability to look up your purchase information. Check the email that you received when the game was purchased, since your key and the contact information for the online retailer should be included there. Please note that there are dozens of online retailers, and we only have access to our own online store. If you purchased a game from the Ubisoft store before July 3rd, 2010, please note that the old Ubisoft store was closed on that date and all customers who had a purchased game were sent an email with instructions on how to download and store the install files for any games purchased. Unfortunately, if you did not back up those install files, you will not be able to reinstall your games. You would have to repurchase the games from our Ubisoft store." Sadly I received no such E-mail stating that I will lose access to all of my games purchased from them. In addition, I never received any e-mail that ever sent me a registration key, which is the big issue here. I don't really mind that I can't download the game from them anymore, but what really bugs me is that they refuse to give me my license information, I mean, really? You are just going to straight up DENY that I ever purchased the game from you? Even when I sent you the purchase conformation E-mail and my F'n bank statement showing my purchase? There was a couple weeks worth of pointless E-mail banter back and forth between me and Ubisoft, but nothing of any importance. Mostly it was, "it appears that you may have purchased from a different online retailer" and related BS comments. ----------- Sooo... Is the new Il-2:CoD worth buying? I have heard some extremely mixed reviews about it, but nothing giving me a clear go-no go word on it. Mostly I just want to know if I should re-buy the first Il-2 from Steam, or just get the new one instead? Edited August 22, 2011 by Pyroflash If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
Succellus Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Where i to say something i would say it doesn t surprise me. As long as consumers don t boycott Ubisoft brand, and make it clear to the dev before release, UBI will be on the market and will continue to piss on customers head. That also, why i like steam...No stress in that direction, or any, now that it seems steam is taking account expressives modding comunities. some1 Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Don't worry, in their new store, you're allowed to download the game files only within 30 days from your purchase. And people complain about Steam.... EtherealN Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 IL-2 COD is definitely better than the old one, though there are less maps and no DC. (Though the DC in IL2 was enormous crap anyhow.) I'm not sure I can give a straight recommendation though - I bought it on release, but with the issues they had I didn't spend much time with it, and I haven't had time to feel it up after that either. It is a nice sim, and as long as they managed to polish off the issues they had on release it's good enough to buy, on Steam, but someone else would have to chime in on whether they actually fixed it. Many performance improvments, but still many non fixes. Me of little faith has a little spare faith for IL2:COD though . on F-Fiveday... i mean friday there maybe a new beta test patch available which may include said fixes alongside a re write of the sound code and re vamp of the terrain graphics. ED Team NineLine Posted August 22, 2011 ED Team Posted August 22, 2011 I have it running well for me now, but it is in desperate need of a good healthy patch, which as stated above is due to drop anytime now. I really like where they are going, but they still have a little way to go. If you are frustrated by tweaking your system to make a game run well, you may wanna wait till at least the next patch and see how that goes.
