default762792 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 As of Thursday, November 3, the Best Buy in Roseville, MN, had three copies. When I left the store, they had two.
Specter1606688147 Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Nice to see that store purchases are still popular.

navair2 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) DISREGARD my earlier post...that SKU # is NOT the correct one. I actually phoned both Deerfield, Illinois and Patchogue, NY to confirm the SKU #, turns out its for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Nobody at those locations could even find the DCS: A-10C game in their computer. I'm also getting the "deaf and dumb" routine from Best Buy national sales rep on the toll-free number. She couldn't find it either. Strange how copies of something can show up in local stores, but National Sales doesn't know how it got there... So, for the ones that have reported copies at their local Best Buy stores here in the States, please get the SKU #. Thanks. * EDIT * According to Roseville, MN Best Buy, the correct SKU# is 3839888. BTW, that does not come up in a search over the internet. Best Buy stores also have the title wrong in their system: DCS AC10....figures. Enjoy! Edited November 9, 2011 by navair2
kylania Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Why do you need a specific Best Buy SKU? Why isn't "Do you have DCS A-10C in stock?" enough? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie

Specter1606688147 Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Happy to say, Last Friday I received the Boxed version from Amazon (and a friend, thanks). Looks great but where do I go to see the version that's installed? I expected it to be seen on the main menu screen but it's not.:book:
EtherealN Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Loading screen as you start it... ;) Another option are to go into the mission editor and select misc>credits And finally, as for all programs, just go to the executable in windows, right-click, select properties, then Details. Has all the information - yours should say 1.1.0.9 under File Version. I'm sure, just like other stores, their numbers will be poor. After all, if they don't stock them (or at least more than a couple), they won't sell enough to make them look good on paper. Look at PC Game sales compared to console. Fewer and fewer titles for PC's and so more and more titles are limited to consoles. Case in point, when was the last time you actually saw a Boxing (not wrestling) title for the PC despite the graphics for sports titles being better on the PC.
EtherealN Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I'm sure, just like other stores, their numbers will be poor. After all, if they don't stock them (or at least more than a couple), they won't sell enough to make them look good on paper. They don't look at "how many did we sell", they look at inventory velocity - that is, how long did it take on average from the item going on store shelf to the item being sold? Doesn't matter if they stock one or two hundred in that case. This then informs them on whether they should stock more of those titles (for example, if stuff sold-out very quick) or less (if it took a long time to turnover the inventory) or not at all (if inventory sat there for a really long time). And of course, they might have other indicators as well. Depending on the sophistication of their system, they might even do this kind of thing on a per-area basis, so that areas that just happen to have a lot of train nerds stock the train sims, while areas with the average shooter crowd don't (or stock very few). Case in point, when was the last time you actually saw a Boxing (not wrestling) title for the PC despite the graphics for sports titles being better on the PC. But who would want to play a boxing game? :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
cichlidfan Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 EtherealN is talking about what I meant. I am sure PC numbers at BB are not great in general since they seem to put little or no effort toward maintaining and merchandising that department (at least from what I see here). I am sure PC numbers at BB are not great in general since they seem to put little or no effort toward maintaining and merchandising that department (at least from what I see here). And that's why I think sales are poor. The stores seem to do little to nothing to promote PC titles. If only 2 A-10c Warthogs are placed on the shelf, and the shelves are not well maintained, a customer may not see it or if they do, seeing only 2 may may it look unpopular. These are things that a "bean counter" can't calculate. These are the things that customers think about. Microsoft knew this when they had companies write their code in such a way that they would qualify to have the "Games for Windows" logo put on the box. Allowing the item to be displayed in a better location than any title without the logo. Part of the agreement meant that any title that had the logo had to have the ability to use an XBox type controller.
