Laurius Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Hi Hot Trizz, I try to help. You say you have two screens : the main one is 1680 x 1050 and the second one is 1280 x 1024, placed bellow. Then I assume you want to diplay both MFDs on the top side of your second monitor. In this case, I can see several issues in the .lua file you posted : 1) the overall resolution should be : 1680 x 2074 (should also be entered in the video option page of the sim when using multi monitor set-up). 2) because of 1), you have to change the aspect ratio which is now 0.83 instead of 1.6 (should also be entered in the video option page of the sim). 3) Try to remove those "/2" 4) Because of your new resolution, the positions of both MFDs are wrong. Try x=0, y=1693 for the left MFD and x=880, y=1693 for the right one. Don't forget to extend your desktop to both screens in Windows. In the end, you would probably have to play with MFD size and position values in order to have them perfectly where you want them to be. I hope I could help Asus P8Z68 Deluxe, Intel Core i7-2600K (3.4 GHz), Corsair Vengeance 2x4096 Mo DDR3 1866 MHz, SSD 120 Go Vertex 2, EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0 4Go (04G-P4-2978-KR), TM HOTAS Warthog #03797 (MB replaced), Saitek Combat Pro Rudder, TrackIR 5, TM Cougar MFDs with Lilliput 8" UM 80
cichlidfan Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) set at 1680x1050 the dell is a 17 set at 1280x1024 i have the dell monitor under the aoc so i added up the both monitors to 2860x1050:( I should be in bed but let me see if I have this straight. You have a 1680x1050 as your main monitor, where you want the cockpit. You have 1280x1024 monitor configured in windows to be below the first. On this monitor, you want your MFDs. If this is not correct then the rest of this is way off but that is what you appear to be saying. First, if the monitors are arranged that way then the total resolution is going to be 1680x2074 thats 1050 + 1024. What you have would be correct if they were side by side. Next, the resolution for your center display width = 1680; /2 height = 2960; /2 This is confusing (I never use the fractions) and the placement of your semicolons probably means it is not reading the 2 at the end anyway. Change this to width = 1680 height = 1050 From there your MFDs can be anywhere below and to the right of x=0, y=1050 (these coordinates are the upper left corner of the bottom monitor). cichlidfan Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I forgot to mention the aspect ratio but Laurius covered that. We were on the same track but I think his MFD coordinates are going to put your images on the bottom half of the screen and extending off of the bottom (1693 + 400 = 2093 and the display is only 2074). Either way though, this should get you on the right track. cichlidfan Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 One, your definition for your center screen is still incorrect. See my post above. Two, have you made any attempts to use a program called Easy Monitor Config? That has been know to cause some problems. I am not aware of an issue with using the HDMI calble but it is possible. If you can hook them both up to DVI, preferably on the same card (performance is better). Yes, reinstall, do not use easy monitor. Save a copy of your last setup file, the one that gives the black lower screen. That is probably almost perfect. When you remove it make sure to delete the original install directory after removing the product. Also remove your Saved Games folder, or at least rename it. Laurius Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Yes, as Cichlidfan mentioned it, your center monitor parameters are still wrong and that's probably a bit because of me since I was may be a bit confusing on this. In your .lua file, for you center monitor you should have : x = 1680, y = 1050 and aspect = 1.6. The resolution of 1680 x 2074 and aspect ratio = 0.83 should only be entered in the video options page of the sim. Unfortunatly, I can't give you insight with easy monitor since I don't use it. I'm sure with Cichlidfan's help, you will make it. HOP_TRIZZ Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 Dam, man i was hoping there was a work around for the monitor problem, ok well after work tonight i will unistall the game delete the files save a copy of the lua file reinstall the game again and i wont use easy monitor this time what do you guys think of a touch screen lower monitor like 20 to 24 inches for gauge set up like helios system yes - no would like to do a set up like a top screen at 42 inches and 2 lower screens at 22 inches for the touch panels..
cichlidfan Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) Unfortunately, you can't work around a problem caused when another program (easy monitor) modifies the original. You need to get back to the original. It really should not take long to do. I can't count how many installs I have done in the past six months, new install for each patch along with other reasons. The touch screens work well from what I have seen, I just can't justify a new monitor for just that feature. A three monitor setup like you describe should be great. Helios is an excellent product. Somewhere in the pitbuilders thread is a pic of Gadroc's current setup, where he makes extensive use of touch screen displays. EDIT: Here is Gadroc's pit. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1286493&postcount=129 There is a link to the SCSimulations site in his sig. Anyway, let us know how it goes this evening. If you run into more difficulties, just post and myself or one of the others here will get you squared away. On a positive note, if you are going to do a major Helios setup figuring this out now will make the rest easier later. Sarge55 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Welcome HOP TRIZZ, The touch screens would be great using either Helios or Hawg Touch and I beleive the best choice would be 24". Do a search for "Gadroc" he developed Helios and he has a profile set and ready for setting up your controls on a single 24" monitor. HOP_TRIZZ Posted September 19, 2011 Author Posted September 19, 2011 I'm a member of the sc site, also been looking to build a full hardcore pit for about a year i was thinking of doing all the wiring and panels from dimebugs stencils but i like the glass cockpit the utilization from the f22 raptor or the f35 raptor touch screen is so nice.....ok well whooo! hoo! everything is working thank you all for the great help, man love this site...
cichlidfan Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Good deal. Told you we would get it. Obviously you know all about Helios then. PeterP Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I just wish you did not have to run in windowed mode to use exports. When you utilise SoftTH and use the "keepComposition=1" in the config - you will be able to use DCS in fullscreen-mode together with Helios. What is SoftTH?
HOP_TRIZZ Posted September 19, 2011 Author Posted September 19, 2011 (edited) Helios is cool like the fact you can drag and drop the files to bind them very nice, downloaded cap_larz profile just to check it out, i was looking at flims pits for sale with the aces2 seat set up, but bills bills bills, so i think i'm gonna wait, now the problem is should i do the touch screen or a larger monitor if i go larger monitor it might have to be in the 40 inch range but the touch screens are 22 inches at $249.99 to $279.99 at tiger direct and a 40 inch monitor / tv is like 399.99 to 499.99 at microcenter, what to get first larger monitor or touch screen? Edited September 19, 2011 by HOP_TRIZZ
PeterP Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Touch screen! It will open another dimension to you - what you have done before wile looking at the screen - than have to look back again to your your keyboard/controller - than again look back again at the screen ... - now it will be done with one finger-press! - touch screen: the way to go! ;)
