Mohamengina Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Any plans on using and optimising the mods that are currently out and making them a part of the vanilla game? Mods like more dense grass and view distance increase, make the game look a lot better and it would be awesome to see ED use what other people have already done to make their game even better. Not only that but I'm sure they could optimise the mods to make them work even better than they already do.

EtherealN Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 The mods access functions that are accessible to anyone; they're just variables in a list of variables in lua files that you can access through any text editor. The reason why some variables are not editable through the interface itself can be varied, including (but not limited to) ensuring ease-of-use for the customer. Basically; if you had everything that could be customized in the options screen, said screen would be roughly as big as the bible and the interdependencies would appear, to the user, as rather byzantine in their complexity. If you want specific things added to the list though, please feel free to name them and I'm sure the guys will take it under advicement. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

Mohamengina Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 I'm sure adding a very high mode for distance and specifying how dense you want the grass to be wouldn't be too complex for the average customer. :) And yes I was talking about building distance. I find it a bit odd that buildings magically appear in front of you even with the view distance on high - the problem is I can't use the mod because it alters the f10 map textures so I can't make my way around a mission as easy.
