I recall seeing Wings on the discovery channel not long after the first Iraq war. The A-10 pilot brought the plane down after a mission and the front tire blew on the landing and forced the A-10 to go off the side of the runway. The pilot was talking to the crew chief afterwards and apologizes he couldn't keep her on the runway. Looking at the A-10 you could see many many holes in it that were bigger then an average head. I"m suprised the machine flew at all.

 

 

Then again, and Israeli F-15 pilot did fly and land a with only one wing.
