ARM505 Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I'm not sure if this is an old issue, I had some idea it was a newly added feature, so sorry if I'm just kicking the proverbial dead horse. Spawning on a ship will ultimately result in the helo falling over the side. As expected, it kinds of rolls around a bit when starting (with the odd loud bang as you spawn, sometimes breaking the wheels), but always tends towards the aft of the ship, and ultimately always falls overboard. I can haz tiedowns pleez?
Krebs20 Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Maybe wheel chocks would work? I don't know if it applies to ships, but I know your never to run a helicopter tied down. It will self destruct. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhnVJPAGj8Q [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
159th_Viper Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 A simple thick rope-net is used on some oil-rig helidecks over here, presumably to keep the helos from moving about too much. ARM505 Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 Well, I was asking as a bit of a joke really, although they do get tied down when they're not running of course. The problem though, is that in BS the helo will eventually fall off the aft end of the ship - it cannot stay still on the deck. Old issue, or something to fix from a new feature?
dok_rp Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 My ex-brother-in-law is a helicopter mechanic for oil rigs here in Brazil and this is what they use on rough seas. http://www.noraway.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/IMG_1013.jpg 1
Krebs20 Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 It's new as far as I know. I hate to ask to obvious. Did you try the parking break? Shift+w if I remember. I won't be able to try out ship ops this weekend. So I can't test anything. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

ARM505 Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 This occurs with both parking brake on, or full manual brakes applied. They need to degrease the deck or something...

71st_Mastiff Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Auto-Start? 159th_Viper Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) Helo is incorrectly trimmed for operation under Auto throttle setting whilst unsupervised, especially on the ground. Need to trim cyclic forward otherwise it'll scoot backwards as you have experienced. Edit: Attempted to replicate and failed with auto-start, even with untrimmed, default settings. Would be good if you have a track handy if and when it happens again. As said, with a quick test helo did not move with BS2 on tarmac/at AB. Stratos Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Is possible to design a mission starting from a ship deck? Even from Russian ships? I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
159th_Viper Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) Yes. Edit: HANG ON - I'll check - just tried and could not so I could have been a bit hasty with the 'Yes'. ED Team JimMack Posted November 13, 2011 ED Team Posted November 13, 2011 Aye - as Mastiff said, can take-off from ramp or runway on ships. Alert: If you have set meteo wind, you need to create mission with take-off from runway. If ramp, you will not have time to start up before Ka50 slides off the deck. Known bug. Having problems?
