Upgraded from GTX275 to GTX580

Recommended Posts

The day before yesterday i received my new Asus GTX580 DCII. And what a difference does it make!! Im running 1920 x 1080 together with a second monitor for both MCFD's and im not going under 30 frames (takeoff training mission). I doubted wether to go for the GTX570 or 580. Finally i have choosen for the 580 cause im running a high res so i can use the extra 256 MB ram.

A new immersion to DCS A-10C!

I just got an evga 570 2.5gb card today. I can't wait to get home and test the new card out.

Please let me know about that card. As I currently run the 1.28 GB version. And I am considering selling it to upgrade it for the 2.5 GB version. I would have bought the 2.5 but it wasnt out when I built my PC 9 months ago.

I ran everything maxed out last night. I mean everything. At 1900x1080.

I then installed kukys Very high settings and it was still smooth as silk. If I get time over the weekend, Im going to up the draw distance further. And look for anything else to max out. Ill add mustangs noise texture tonight. I tested it last night in Company of Heroes Blitzkreig and killing floor last night. both were at 60fps. I limited that btw. I dont have any of the games that will max this card out. I may have to invest in one to see what it can really do.

I cannot be more happy with this card.

Bolt-1 We have pretty much the same system. If you want to set up a test track to run I would be more then happy to try it and give the results to see if you find it worth it.

Glad you like the card. I'll do a test track over the weekend. And PM it to you. I'd like to see just how much of a difference there is. As of right now I run all I can at max settings. @ 1920 X 1080. The card I have now does not max out but its close. Thx for the reply on the card. And I'm sure you'll have good luck with it.

What us your definition or almost maxed out? What program did you use to make that call? I want to compare like data if we can. Also ill set my 2500 to match yours speed.

The data I'm referring to comes from using MSI Afterburner. I know it's not the most accurate but I'm using it. Card is at stock speeds. GPU % is avg. 96. And memory usage is @ 1240 to 1245 MB max. FPS fluctuates between 48 to 60. V sync on and full screen. This is in DCS A10-C. Graphics setting on high, civ. traffic on med., 1920 X 1080, CP is 1024 every frame, MSAA @ 8XQ, but HDR is off (I dont like it), Mirrors on, Heat Blur ON. I am not complaining at all and the sim runs smooth as silk for me. It's all more out of curiosity than anything.

Nice PC spesifications Bolt. What cooling do you have? And what is the temp on the OC CPU?

I still use the stock case fans in the 932. The heat-sink and fan for the CPU I use is the Thermalright Silver arrow. There are only two top of the line air cooler's out there. This is one of them. My temps are about 24 Celsius @ Idle and when running DCS have never gone above 50 Celsius.

Would you mind using GPU-z for the testing Bolt?

I have the Evga program and I'm afraid they may give different results from your MSI program.

I'm curious as well. I wanted the 2.5gb card for muli monitor later. So right now its a game of how much can i max out my graphics at 1080p. Have you tried these mods yet? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71639 or http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76462 They have changed the game for me. Looks amazing. But when we test a track to compare, it will put a higher load that the stock graphics.

They made the game look so much better. At 3000 to 10000 feet. And I like to flythat low when there's low threats.
