i see this screenshot and think trickery and photoshop. then i pay admission fee and see for myself.

the pre-alpha is amazingl polished and the game really looks that good. best part. it is a sim, not arcade nonsense like need for speed, gt5, forza, grid, etc.

awww….come now, GT5 is surely not an arcade game :).

I've been playing pCARS for a while now, its great. community investment about to hit 1,000,000 pounds :). Lot of rich gamers out here :megalol:

can anyone explain the funding behind pcars ?

i find it rather ironic that a group of developers frequently published by EA go to start a kickstarter-esque system to raise cash for development to then get publishing rights aquired by EA. seems a little strange to me but maybe someone can explain my question.

another question i have is that of Origins! and wether pCars will be an origin's platform based product ?

FYI-

I was glancing at the current PC Gamer and noticed a listing, in the table of contents, for an article on Pcars. I neglected to read it and do not have the magazine though.

Figured someone might be interested.

EDIT: This is probably the article.

Project Cars has nothing to do with EA

Do you think that getting 9 women pregnant will get you a baby in 1 month?

Yesterday when searching for an other racing game i game across this pCARS project. It just blew me away. I immediately bought (also to support the project that is also based on community funding) and downloaded the sim. (alpha version see link).

Trailer see for your self.

This looks 10 times better than AC. Thanks for the heads up.

Unfortunately it doesn't drive as well - the FFB is still very poor in CARS. And the graphics... meh I run CARS maxed out and it never looks as good as in the screens and vids.

So that video is some kind of cinematic?

Are you sure?

Maybe you are missing a few options tho.

No it's not a cinematic and I am not missing any settings. It's just something about this game that makes it look better on screens and videos than when you are not in the cockpit actually driving. Yes, it does look better than Corsa overall, but it's not that huge a difference when you are actually playing the game.

Or the guys making videoes have better hardware than yours?

It's still WIP so if you put settings on max, you don't get any warning that graphic card support it or not, unless it crash.

Good point....:)

I have a fairly powerful rig, i7 2700k, on an Asus P8Z68 Gen3, 16GB RAM, Ati 7970 3GB.

I run all settings maxed except SMAA. It looks like the promo vids when I'm playing.

It is very much a work in progress, but it is getting better every day.

I haven't driven Assetto Corsa yet to compare, so I can't comment. Cars' FFB is very good with my current wheel setup (Fanatec GT3RS V2, CSP V1, 6 spd Porsche shifter). You do have to spend a little time tweaking the settings to get the feel just right. I can easily control power slides, and feel the limits of grip.

Some tracks and cars are further along than others, so be careful what you compare ;)
