maxmax Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Read a line in the official updates section. "The next big items are the 3D object tree forests". Does this mean trees will be potent foes now? As in you can crash into them? And not invisible to enemies? Cuz that would be cool. Sorry if this is a repost. 1

PeterP Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 (edited) http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1336485&postcount=25 The next big items are the 3D object tree forests and tuning clutter blending. This only says that "tree forests" will be 3D objects - and not sprites any more - like we knew them since first DOOM ;). But this has not to mean that they will be collide-able objects. If you want to find more about the "why ?" : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=582878#post582878 edit: but sure, why not... - why not start a endless thread again on this topic... :D BTW: What are "tree forests"?! leafer Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 thanks, P. Yeah, that was a fun thread wasn't it? :D 1 ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
kylania Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 For the Black Shark I can see this being an issue, but how often does an A-10C get INTO trees or in a situation where trees being 3D matters? leafer Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I read a book where a pilot told of an account where he flew his F-4 Phantom into dense jungle canopy and snagged some branches on his wing. I can't recall if he was dogfighing or avoiding sam. Now, I'm just saying sh!t happens. I'm fine with the way things are progressing. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

kylania Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Your post from the Black Shark area is my point exactly, "functional trees" would be a concern for Black Shark, but no A-10C pilot is going to say, "Whoa there's a Shilka, I'd better drop to 15 feet off the deck and hide behind those trees to avoid it!" or "I'll just fly at 250kts 20 feet from the ground and hide behind this tree line to sneak up on those tanks". :) It's all the same engine now anyway, so it's great that it's happening, just confused why an A-10 pilot would be asking about this.
