leafer Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 You know that runways that crisscrossed like an X near an airport, I tried to bomb some tanks I've placed on X, but flew using waypoint set on top of the airport, when released, the 105 dropped on top of the waypoint. You can't dive bomb using the 105 so if you want to bomb random targets that isn't set up at a waypoint then what's the procedure? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 18, 2011 ED Team Posted December 18, 2011 Use your TGP to set you SPI on a target and CCRP mode ? or am I missing something :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? 159th_Viper Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Correct as above. In the absence of you setting the target as SPI, it will drop on your default SPI which is your current steerpoint. Confirm in bottom left of HUD - will show you current SPI-Generator. In your case it will read STPT instead of TGP if you set the SPI with the Pod. leafer Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 I thought when you set area mode on a target then that target becomes your SPI? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 18, 2011 ED Team Posted December 18, 2011 are you doing TMS forward long when in AREA mode to set your SPI ? best thing to do is post a Track and we can take a look for you :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ralfidude Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 (edited) Basic Hog instruction 101: Step 1: Turn on TGP Step 2: Use said TGP to find a target Step 3: Point TGP so that target is right on the crosshairs. Step 4: Press TMS up short twice (in other words press TMS up twice), so that TGP is tracking in POINT mode (easier to recognize a vehicle and tries to lock on to it, instead of AREA mode where it ignores objects) Step 5: Press TMS up LONG (in other words press TMS up and hold for a second) This sets that exact point as your current SPI, or Sensor Point of Interest. Almost EVERYTHING is now basically focused on that point that you have just designated, all your bombs, cameras, wives, hookers, are ALL interested in that point. If you were in CCIP you would have a new release point to THAT exact point, etc and so forth. Step 6: After selecting 105's just turn in on the target, wait for the release cue, then drop it. Step 7: Profit? How did you miss this from the training? Have you been attacking targets using your eye ball and HUD to slave stuff around or something?? leafer Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 (edited) So TMS up Long and my wife knows I'm about to tap someone's @ss? :D Seriously, your step-by-step is exactly what I need. Will try them after work. Those included training tracks are great, but not very ADD friendly. I haven't been able to sit through one yet. I wish ED would spice it up a bit. Check out Tigerpwrr's excellent tutorials on youtube. I've been flying around mostly. I'd shoot this and that, drop dumb bombs and fire some MAVs ( learned from Tigerpwrr vid) here and there. I've avoided dropping laser guided bombs and CBU up until now. edit... BIGNEWY, I've been using just know one command which is Ctrl + Up. I didn't know there was a Long version of it because I remember trying Ctrl + Up Long every once in a while, but nothing visibly happened on the MFD. I admit I don't read manual, and scavenge this forum for weapon delivering guide and if I can't find anything or too complicated then I'd just not use that weapon. I know I suck at this and it's why I can't wait for DCS: Fighter. Just lock and unload. Edited December 18, 2011 by leafer ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
KillaALF Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 I know I suck at this and it's why I can't wait for DCS: Fighter. Just lock and unload. No offence, but if you don't get the procedures down pat, I doubt you'd fare any better in DCS: Fighter.
159th_Viper Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 ...but nothing visibly happened on the MFD.... Nothing will happen on the MFCD :) Look at the HUD and confirm the following after pressing Ctrl+Up and holding it (Long) for two or more seconds with the TGP as your SOI: 1 - The TGP diamond, indicating the position of the TGP LOS where it intersects the ground, or in your instance, the target, will all of a sudden grow a 'Tail' - the diamond now looks like a tadpole. When you see the tadpole, you know the SPI has been set on your target you are looking at on the MFCD. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Xxx Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Hi, Page 401 of the updated manual,"Sensor Point of Interest", is a good read. If you want to "focus" everything on your set SPI, you need to press China Hat Forward Long. Thats "Slave All To SPI". All active sensors will then track the SPI. ( or wives,ex girl friends, tax men, even Santa....) Cheers. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]i7 Haswell @ 4.6Ghz, Z97p, GTX1080, 32GB DDR3, x3SSD, Win7/64, professional. 32" BenQ, TIR 5, Saitek x55 HOTAS. leafer Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 ahh. tms long it is. Man, i love CBUs! ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
ralfidude Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 As it's been said before, if you dont get DCS A-10 and think this is too hard and you cant focus to learn it, you will be utterly lost, confused, and feel unloved when the jet fighter comes out, as that will have ALL of this crapola here, PLUS a whole new perspective to learn. Better study the videos online. I consider myself a scholar, but even I needed to whip out a notebook, and start to write things down, as do many of us. Boring or not, you will need it. leafer Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 Yesterday I decided to get out a notepad when failing to remember all the steps after having watched the A-A training 3 times. Twenty steps total. :D Now do you know for who they're coming out with DCS: Legend? :D ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
