tjhowse Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 This is a repost, since the tech support forums are a bit quiet: Simple question to which I could not find an answer: Is it possible to export the MFCDs to another computer's screen, in my case a laptop sitting next to me, over a LAN? I know it's possible to export gauges, using DCS' network data interface with helios or hawgtouch, but I'm unsure about the MFCDs. This is why, incidently:
Stuka Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Default in Windows : No There is software that makes it possible to extend your screen over LAN to a second computer: Maxvista is an example of that. The setup of that should be transparant to DCS, because Windows sees it as a second monitor. Once you got that setup, you could start playing with lua files to place the MFD's on that second monitor. I've got the feeling that this setup will not be to good for your fps. And I think it will be way more handy to just attach a second monitor to your current PC. tjhowse Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 And I think it will be way more handy to just attach a second monitor to your current PC. Hmm. I had feared that might be the case. If you have a look at the video, you'll find why I don't just put another monitor on. My video card is quite occupied as it is.
Heretic Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) I had that same exact question about 4 months ago, Check this post out and follow it exactly. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60815 This is how my set up looks as of right now, where the MFD's would be, I do apologize that nothing is viewable there, I have the Thrustmaster Cougar MFD's. I hope this is what you mean, and that this is helpful. http://www.exabyssus.com/heretic/ssforass1.png Lates, Heretic Edited December 20, 2011 by Heretic
tjhowse Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 Thanks for the attempt Heretic (That is a very well-written guide), but you did not read my post, nor did you watch my video. I am trying to send the MFCD screens to another computer. Not simply another monitor.
MTFDarkEagle Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Not possible as far as I know unfortunately... Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Heretic Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Actually I did watch you video, just misunderstood it.
Joe Kurr Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Maybe this is what you're looking for. I haven't tried it myself yet, but it should enable you to use your laptop as a second monitor. http://www.zoneos.com/zonescreen.htm Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award
agrasyuk Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 in theory it should work with "extending the desktop to laptop" software like http://www.maxivista.com/ . i see they now offering even extension to ipad screen. at a point IIRC there was issues with win7 , but now i read they are compatible. but the experience left a lot to desire. when I tried some years ago to export FSX gauges, the performance dropped drastically (and it wasn't over wireless either). extending A10 the MFCDs to monitor driven by older vidcard (9600GT) was bad enough. i imagine exporting into virtual card, over network connection would be unplayable.
