Forgot to mention the other nice fact. The top of the monitor is level. I tested the mount when I first installed it and made sure it's level and the monitor is nicely leveled as well.

I got the specs for the main panel there so I can start using my cad app to draw up what I want to design. Will post it here as soon as I have something solid planned.

Did a mockup of the panel during my lunch today. But during testing tonight I found out that they center joystick would block the portion of the panel I designed. So tonight I redesigned it and put the outline of the joystick in the panel for reference (in gray).

So next payday I"ll order another usb controller and switches needed. Should be fun.

Cool stuff!

If a pipe goes somewhere, connect the pit to it and all is well.

Great work! Just one thing...

The panel above has landing gear down twice. Was this intentional? I would have thought you'd go for down and up...

I noticed that too. I copied and pasted it when creating it and forgot to change it to up. Will fix it soon.

Some more advances.

I put the middle section together and the panels in place.

Here are the panels before I redid them. I ended up stacking them vertically.

I put in a wooden panel which will be used for the front panel. I added some of the switches in there. I'm planning on expanding it quite a bit. Can't wait for my USB controller to arrive!

This is were the pit will be on a more permanent basis. Right below all my airshow pictures. I'm still tweaking things and will hopefully cover everything early next month.

Here's my little one pretending to fly. I like to think of this as stress testing my system.

Nice, and also very responsible to have her wear that parachute while flying :D

+1 I also like the no kids sign. I need something to hang near my corner that says no wife since I don't have a mancave. Nice work on the pit.

I was originally using my nice seat in there, but since I use it at my desk, I didn't want to give it up. I'll get a nice chair for it sometime.

As for the parachute - gotta keep the kid safe in case of a crash!

Designed two more panels that will go in the open spaces of my front panel.

First I needed a light switch fro flood lighting since my squad likes to fly at night these days. Also added NVG capabilities.

Then created another panel that would have canopy, seat adjustment, and warning buttons. Also needed the ability to turn on the radios and change the presets.

Will install these tonight if I get a chance and take pictures.

Added the panel printouts to the front panel. Drilled holes. I"m short 4 switches which I'll go grab from Radio Shack at lunch time. Hopefully my USB controller will arrive today. Can't wait to have the panel operational.

On the UFC front I'm going back and forth between getting a compact keyboard and putting it where the UFC was going to be, or actually getting all the buttons fro the UFC. At best I've priced all the buttons to be around 45 bucks, compact keyboard I can get for about 25. I'm still looking for cheaper electronic places, so if anyone knows a place that has good pushbutton switch (I prefer soft touch and black or gray) let me know.

So I got the rest of the switches and installed them all in. Here's what the panel looks like now:

img3817o.jpg

I put into the sim and found that two switches are fairly close the the center stick, but overall still in good operations. Ran a quick test of all the switches, found some were reversed, fix them. Didn't get to map them into the sim yet since it was 11 pm by this time (I started wiring around 7 pm)

Here's a view from behind so you can see the wirey mess. Trying to figure out how to make it look less messy.

Next payday (should be next week), I plan on getting the EPS foam to cover the sim and start painting. Excited to get this far!

Yeah once everything works the way I want it to I'll clean up the cables a bit.

:wallbash: you know ... temporary thing mostly become permanent.

it is better to work hard at start then go all over again.

good luck.

Avlolga,

I'm a programmer by trade. So I usually test and test until everything is perfect and then pretty it up. Once all the components are together and working as they should I'll pretty up the cabling.

I made some huge progress over the weekend. Will post pictures later.

I got paid over the weekend so wanted to start covering my pit. The plans call for this EPS foam stuff and I picked some up at Lowe's. The stuff was hard to work with, and made a huge mess all over the place. You can't screw it in and you have to glue it. I did the back section with it as a trial. I didn't like the results.

So I was thinking of going with a silver tarp and using that. I asked my wife who was out shopping to see if she could find some. She ended up finding a cool woodland camp covering. so I used that. I started it out with the forward section:

Then moved to the middle section:

Then the back section:

Overall I like the look. Just got to finish up some electronic stuff and it'll be all done.

Very nice. Looks like you might have room for 2 seats :)

That's in case DSC releases F/A-18 in a two seater version.:smilewink:
