Is there such a thing as a static template?

Hello people

Does the mission editor have a feature to create a template consisting of multiple static vehicles.

Not really liking the one-at-a-time approach.

Yes, that creates a complete mission.

The "Template" tool inside the mission editor creates templates for groups. So there is a lot of "Template" tools in the editor. You can always also use CTRL + C to copy a group of units and paste them with CTRL + V

Yes but if you create a base made out of blocks and FCSheaters sandbags which are static objects and want another one in the same mission you can't do that without manually placing them again. Static objects are one only per group.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Oh, sorry, static units is a bitch. :music_whistling:

Hardly ever use them but in patch 1.1.1.0 some more buildings and stuff were added to the wehikle group. I hope ED does something about grouping and templating static units :)

Create Template of Static Units etc ... STILL Only Single Units ?

Hi Everyone.

I realize this is an Old Thread, but in my due diligence of Searching for Topics prior to posting New Threads, this was the Only Relevant Thread I could find.

I'm just curious if Anything has changed with regards to Creating Templates of Static (or otherwise) Objects ?

More Specifically, can we Create a Template that consists of ALL the Buildings/Vehicles etc etc that we would want to use over and over again ... such as at a newly created/Multiple FARP's ??

Not only would this save a ton of time (whereas single object placement is extremely time consuming) but it would be very handy when creating multiple missions.

Just the ability to Grab and Move or Copy a bunch of "things" at the same time would be a huge improvement.

The fact is, it hardly makes sense to be able Only to create a Template of a single type of "object" ... especially when using the ADD "whatever" i.e. Vehicle Group, Aircraft Group etc etc, we can already decide how may to have when we place the first one (and then select or edit the number to be created). And since that multiple unit creation with a single click and edit does not create a group that cannot be broken apart, it's easy enough to move the extra "whatevers/objects" to anywhere on a map.

OR am I just missing something here ?

IF there is no way to do this .... IS IT something that Ed/DCS is considering for the "near future" ?

Thanks Sabre-TLA for the Mod URL (I'll go for the latter one just in case).

Much appreciated.

PS> I never even thought to look there. In fact, it seems this is a part of DCS that I commonly overlook and really should take the time to review to see all that is currently available.

Thanks again.

From my tests, if you define the templates by hand in lua, you can have multiple types in a template, and they will load into the ME as expected. The mechanism for defining such a template in the ME GUI is lacking though.
