When I can't "see" targets on map or ABRIS, I use him to search for targets (5 or 8 clicks) and report about target's position (DataLink etc.)...

I tell them to take out shilka's with bombs when flying at about 13000 then I tell them to attack tanks from which ever direction is the rear (weakest armour).

I use them most when I'm low on ammo or know that im going to be later.

Bombs in a Black Shark from 13,000 feet? You'll be lucky to hit the country you're aiming at.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

I always ask my wing man to attack at opportunity ,then I see his SPI on my TAD and attack it ahead of him, robbing him of his target always give me a lot of fun.

So true but a TAD on a black shark? Personally I use him as cannon fodder a lot of the time. I'm sure he'd be glad to make the sacrifice. :D

He's great at reconnaissance with that 20/20 vision :D

More precisely, he has a "superman" vision, he can see through trees and bushes! He's cheating a little :music_whistling:

...and when I'm low on ammo i use "Attack my target" or "Atack movers, bandits or whatever..."

Thanks guys.

I guess most of you use your wingman as an extra pair of eyes.

I also read that some of you give the wingman the order to attack a target with a specific weapon. I didn't know that was possible?

There's a Producer's Note (video) on the subject or a AV8R's (of SimHQ) (also video) presenting some basic stuff.

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/video/bs2-training/combat-employment/#data-link-flight-commands

Some notes:

  1. attacking with your wingman at the same time halves the number of barrels shooting at you ; now imagine a 4-ship attack... from different directions :sly:
  2. wingman is great for reconnaissance - learn Data Link usage first
  3. when attacked unexpectedly issue the 'Attack my enemy' (am I correct here?) while doing evasion - if you're lucky, your wingman will take out the threat before you'll be able to end the evasion, go around and locate the target
  4. (related to the point above) prefer loose formation
  5. read the Black Shark 2 changelog, AI improvements section

I'd be surprised if the manual doesn't have more...

:megalol: HAHA! U nailed it!

First of all: Spread formation.

TIP!: Send him out on recon but then call him back to formation before he is done. In that way he will continue to report targets while in formation! It's like having a Longbow radar :D

Since I am so soft hearted, I only use the wingman to mop up low threat targets or attack easy targets while NOT having to overfly other active threats.

Re 3 y.o. Read the BS 2 change log because it looks like many BS 1 tips are not applicable to BS 2 anymore.

Another tip. YouTube user Dvlpt has raw recordings from campaign missions he played.
