112th_Rossi Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I'm a little confused about the counter-measures programming. I want to set flares to pop 5 every 2 seconds. But I can't seem to make it work. Each time it just spams all my flares when im fired upon. Same goes for chaff. Is there a quick guide to this? Also what would be a good setting for this? I usually use the system in Auto mode too.
MTFDarkEagle Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 What mode are you selecting for your countermeasure system? I.e. manual, semi auto, auto? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
EtherealN Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Each time it just spams all my flares when im fired upon. Same goes for chaff. Is the Jettison switch on the CMS panel set to on? (If so, set it to off.) Is there a quick guide to this? Page 408. ;) Also what would be a good setting for this? I usually use the system in Auto mode too. There is no single "good" setting really. Everything depends on your intended use. I personally like to use a flare every 3 seconds for manual, pre-emptive, use during ingress, and more aggressive settings when fired upon (though I haven't really settled on a fav there). falcon_120 Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 If you choose auto the cms will do the work alone. If you want to use your own program you have to select manual mode, that way you'll use the program you like and start it whenever you want.Anyway you should have a look at the manual,it comes quite clear to me,or you can even watch a cms tutorial on youtube.
112th_Rossi Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 Ok thanks! I was under the impression in auto mode it will dispense according to the settings you have given it. Fair enough :) I'll take a look at the manual
lubey Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Yes, if you're in Auto mode it will dispense using the settings you've given it, but Auto uses only select program letters which you must customize. Program 'M' is automatically dispensed whenever an IR missile is detected. So this is the one you must reprogram for your flares. Likewise 'A' and 'B' are for radar-guided threats. But Auto mode generally does just spam all your C/M pretty quickly, personally I prefer to use semi most of the time. 112th_Rossi Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 Oh. Is the Jammer not on by default? That might explain a few things.
Eddie Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Oh. Is the Jammer not on by default? That might explain a few things. No, the self protection jammer in A-10C is modelled a bit closer to reality that previous sims. It can/will only jam an active threat while said threat is tracking you. As soon as said threat has dopped it's lock, the SPJ will return to standby. In manual mode you will need to select the correct SPJ program and enable it. In Semi mode, the system will select the correct SPJ program for the priority threat but you will have to enable the SPJ. In auto mode the system will do everything for you. Regardless of Man/Semi/Auto mode the SPJ will only operate if it can actually jam an emitter, you are only telling the system it's ok to begin jamming, not turning it on and off like in other sims. If you enable it in man or semi mode and it turns itself off a few seconds later it's because there is nothing for it to jam.
112th_Rossi Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 Cool. How do I tell if the Jammer is active?
EtherealN Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 (edited) You have a whole display dedicated to monitoring what the SPJ and other CMs is doing. ;) See under the UFC here: DkYM8UWSnok See page 409. Depth Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 (edited) Cool. How do I tell if the Jammer is active? It blinks OPR next to the RWR when jamming, i.e. OPR SAM2 as seen in the video above Edited January 12, 2012 by Depth [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
