Hi all.

About a week ago i posted elsewhere about this topic but got no reply.

Firstly i think this thread will be useful to anyone like me who has never made a profile before or would simply like to input an already made one but has never done so before and doesnt know how.

May i please reiterate my previous post:

I bought and x52 pro stick and have had it for a while, and i love it. However im not using its full potential as i only use the ingame control settings to assign buttons.

So i downloaded the Saitek software (or as i have seen abrieviated to SST?)

thing is i dont know what an earth to do next, and im sure theres a few like me out there.

So what i ask of this thread is to give a step by step guide on how to make a profile from scratch.

All i have is a clean install of LOCKON and BS patched up to date, with an X52 pro and the SST.

I think this will be useful for everyone even the pros might learn tricks from one another.

I apologise if i have misunderstood the magnitude of what i am asking but i thank you in advance, your help will be much appreciated and enjoyed

:D

No offense intended but what part of the manual do you not understand?

It has been a while since I used SST but I do not recall there being any significant confusion.

You are basically asking someone to post an interpretation of the manual for you, which is impractical. If you have specific questions I am sure plenty of people here can answer them.

ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1

ok so the manual has helped enormously however as you prob expected i still have some questions.

is it possible to make the mouse on the throttle be the shekval slew? i had an attempt but couldnt see how to do it.

also in the manual it says when you switch to a shift mode it can execute a command. however can you made it do this when simply switching normal modes.

Hi I dont think you can use the mouse for shkval slew. I use the main POV on the stick and put it in 8 way mode, then I set the keys as required.

No idea about command on shift change, dunno why you would want to do it really.

I'm really not sure if I understood your question fully, but I'm assuming that you want to be able to enable the mode-switch to be visible/programmable as normal DX buttons - so you can assign it in DCS directly.

So I made a little vid how to do this:

(I'm not using a X52 but the shown steps are the same.)

No sorry i was very unclear. From the manual (page 6 of 9 top paragraph) i understand that you can turn the mode switch on the top left of the stick, and in doing so this can actually be a command. For example what i would like it to do is switch to air to ground mode (7 in lock on) when i turn the switch to mode two position , or nav mode (1 in lock on) when its switched to mode 1 etc.

Are you sure about the mouse thing spikenet. Is it possible on DCS BS or lockon? i think it is beacuse you can change the mouse into a directional axis, or buttons i think. I've seen one profile where it was used for buttons.

oh and thank you very much peterp very kind it may solve another query :D

After you have did what I'm showing in the video you can assign the mode switch to do exactly what you want in LockOn.

Not possible.

joystick to mouse = yes (with AHK for instance)

mouse to joystick = no (I would be glad if someone proofs me wrong!)

may i then point you to these threads:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=58484&highlight=x52+pro

in this one he seems to have made the ministick slew up down left and right however i have a feeling this is the viewpoint.

more interestingly this thread where strongharm has actually made it into 4 buttons. if i could do this then those buttons could be ( , . / ;) which can slew the shkval?

You need to set the two mouse axis to act as bands, which is what Strongharm did if memory serves.

Once you set the axis as three bands. Leave the middle one emply and assign slew commands to the bands on the ends. Do the same for the other axis.

You might be able to use bands for BS2, I do that in A10 but seem to remember getting the shkval to slew with the mouse stick didnt work well in BS1 so I used a POV hat.

hello again!

good news first

thank you cichlidfan i did as you said and now the ministick slews the shkval which is awesome. secondly the mode switch also changes the aircraft mode as i wanted.

but i still have one question. Is it possible to set up a button so that it acts like a modifier like on Lockons own control menu where this was possible.

i think what i mean is best illustrated with an example.

so say for example im in 1 mode. in this mode i want to use one button to turn both my engines on. so when it is pressed alone it turns the left engine on and then when pressed with say (D) it turns the right one on.

likewise when D is pressed with say C (shkval target size increase) it would make the shkval target size decrease.

is this possible?

I've attached my profiles for FC2 and BS2. My profile for Warthog can be found HERE. I've included dev notes and layout reference pics.

EDIT: By the way, if you decide to use the mouse stick for slew, be sure to set a big deadzone or it's unmanageable.

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
