Is it possible to display nav points without including them to a Flight Plan

As the title says; Is it possible to display Nav Points that are stored in the CDU on the TAD that are entered via the mission editor without adding them to a Flight Plan.

The only way i know how to display them is by making a Flight Plan from them. is there another way?

Thanks for any help.

Making IPs was the only way I found. I wanted to do that as well but never found a way.

Turning the steer point dial on the AAR to "mission" displays all mission steerpoints even without them being in the current flightplan, don't know if this would work for ones created in ME but it works for ones created in mission from bullseye calls.

I tried that, it does not work unfortunately.

Thanks.

I have not tried to do it, but why not do what Cichlid said and create them as IPs? as in not mission flight plan IPs but the other IPs that exist independtly of the flight plan, the ones the JTAC refers to for example.

As above, either set the AAP rotary to mission, or Function MSN on the UFC. And then just cycle through the waypoints using the DMS or UFC rocker.

I think the problem is that the MadTommy wants to get extra mission way points out of the mission editor into the TAD but without having used them in a flight plan.

The method you describe assumes they are already loaded in the CDU database, ( or have been created in the cockpit...)

If nav points have been placed in the mission editior, then they are in the CDU database, and therefore will be there in mission mode. They don't have to be in a flight plan, unless you have the system in flight plan mode.

OK just to be clear...so you can go into the mission planner and look at a mission that might have 10 waypoints in it, but you can also create extra points say 11 - 15 that are not part of the flight plan, but distinct off-route points. Then when you load the data into the CDU you will have all those extra none flightplan waypoints available? Cool if you can, I didnt know that.

(Just to be clear Im not talking about simply displaying FPL or other Waypoints on the TAD through the AAP rotary, which I don't think MT is asking about either)

As far as creating nav points at the mission planning screen, I'm not sure. I don't fly single player and haven't used the mission planner since the early beta phase of A-10C.

But if you can create nav points in the mission planner, then yes.

OK, something to try laters...cheers..

I would think you could use "prepare mission" to create the extra nav points into the CDU manually within the sim. They would be mission points not visible to flight plan.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

If you're going to open up the mission in the editor, why would you use prepare mission at all rather than just place the nav points directly on the editor map?

I'm confuzzled....

Heh, didn't realize you could create your own IP names, I'm so used to the trigger drop down lists being locked I thought you were limited to 8 IP names provided. At anyrate, prepare mission could be used for additional purposes in relation to nav points. The obvious being additional flight plans could be created. Plus you can do other some fun stuff to mess with peoples minds like leaving random switches on that normally aren't.

Indeed, it is a useful function for set missions, especially when it comes to configuring DSMS profiles and additional flight plans. But it has a major restriction in that for MP missions anything done in prepare mission effects all A-10Cs in the mission, so if you have aircraft with different weapon loads, you can't pre-configure anything in the DSMS etc.

(We need a proper DTC system)

However they are not displayed on the TAD when you are in mission mode. That is what i was trying to achieve. Like it displays multiple Mark points.. this is what i wanted to be able to do with Nav Points.

I assume it is not possible. But being in Mission Mode and cycling through them to display one at a time is probably the best i can hope for.

Thanks

EDIT: I'm reluctant to venture into 'prepare mission', its a pita ;)

Ahh. No it's not possible.

Prepare mission is easy enough, you do exactly what you'd do on startup anyway as far as setting the systems up, and then when you exit the configuration is saved in the mission file.

Although, personally I prefer to keep a set of master files and make any minor adjustments specific to each mission by editing the various .cfg files in Notepad++ and then just dropping them in the new mission. The only things I do in prepare mission itself are DSMS weapon profiles.

Does prepare mission data get carried over when you copy a plane with crt+c / crt+v

This is for 20+ client MP mission..

Thanks

EDIT: never mind just reread you post above.. prepare one A10c and it affects them all.. this is what i wanted to hear. Ta :)
